  • Pros: just an i3-2100, but it stays very low temps.

Cools well.

Michael A., Newegg
26 March 2011
  • Summary: It is shiny, which is good, cause the phrase "your dingo ate my baby" comes to mind when I look at this thing.
  • Pros: Brought the temps down from 60c-65c to 45c-50c and the fan is quite even on full speed.
  • Cons: For its size I was expecting more over the stock heatsink and fan. It would be nice to have the option of unplugging the variable fan controller for those of us who don't use it.

Not bad for the price.

  • Summary: The mounting system is very easy to use. It's also very easy to accidentally pop off.
  • Pros: I bought and installed 2 of these on my Classified SR-2 system. They keep both of the E5530's OC'd to 3.9ghz around 72-75c under full load. 40c idle. The fans are not loud when they are turned down a bit.
  • Cons: Scythe is a very fitting name. They are so dangerous they should require a permit to use. I received several good nicks when attempting to install. ( Installing 2 in cramped quarters didn't help matters) I don't know what the other reviewers are thinking, the 2000rpm slipstreams are very loud at ...

  • Pros: Does its job well.
  • Cons: Pain to install, really big and kept falling off, really huge pain every time I want to remove/add something to the computer. Didn't end up using it - found the one that came with the processor worked well enough although will keep it incase I ever need to overclock etc.

Good but large

Rohan S., Newegg
23 August 2010
  • Summary: My build: Foxconn A9DA-S motherboard OCZ Reaper HPC 2 x 4 GB 1333 MHz AMD Phenom X4 965 BE Scythe YASYA cpu fan Rosewill Destroyer case Mushkin Enhanced Callisto Deluxe 60 GB MLC SSD Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon HD 5770 Asus VW224 monitor Gigabyte GM-M6800 Mouse Microsoft Digital Media Keyboard
  • Pros: -Keeps the CPU cool. Idles at 34C, and still maintains CPU at 52C max even during Prime95 (at stock settings)
  • Cons: -Dear lord this is huge. I knew it was large enough to block 2 of my RAM slots, when buying, and it certainly did. What it didn't prepare me for is the sheer height. A couple of centimeters more, and my case would be unable to close. -The included fan isn't very good. It only runs at 1250 RPM. Fa...

Good for the price

Mr. R., Newegg

  • Summary: For a little bit more you can get a Cooler Master V6 GT and get better results. Still a good cooler. I'll keep it
  • Pros: Looks good, Big, Cools pretty good, Have no problem clearing low profile memory (A.K.A regular memory heat spreaders and not useless ram heatsinks as tall as the Empire State Building)
  • Cons: NO second set of fan clips?? Push pins mounts are iffy

Great heatsink and fan

Bryan W., Newegg
9 July 2010
  • Summary: I think it is a great value for the price. Just remember to check the size if you use all 4 RAM slots or plan to someday.
  • Pros: It brought my i5 750 down from 50C to 30C idle and 70C to 45C under load and overclocked. Its pretty quiet and was easy to install.
  • Cons: Its huge. It blocks 2 of the RAM slots on my motherboard. Also it can be very sharp so be careful installing.
