Summary: i'd buy it again. But it's really quite large. (approx. 5" x 6") Don't expect to hit 4GHz on Air with this and a phenom II and stay under 60C. I hit 57 several times with this only running 3.85GHz $ 1.41v , which is my personal cut-off.
Pros: Large surface area for cooling. Compatible with all CPU's, and comes with all hardware for mounting. Excellent cooling, fits fine in my case (Antec Three Hundred) X4 955be @ 3.7ghz stock voltage - Loaded -55C After Mugen -47C These are temps from 40 min Prime95 at 3.7ghz stock volts.
Cons: ENORMOUS. I know that to get an efficient performing heatsink it's got to be big. So this wasn't so much of an issue for me. If you have a case with a top mounted P/S, it's going to be even trickier to mount. I have an Antec ThreeHundred with bottom mount P/S and this install was no sweat. Remove...
Pros: Very Quiet very light, I would expect it to cool a bit better, but what can you say it does the job plus my room is always a bit hot anyway ._.
Cons: thing might be a bit to large, a pain in the bottom to assemble. Its easy, but you just got to be very careful. I had to put the cooler on its head then lay the motherboard on top of the cooler to put the screws in. It will probably better if you have a friend with you to assemble this cooler.
Summary: This would easily be a 5 egg if the install wasn't such a task. Once it's in there this is a really great product and it's performing very well for me.
Pros: *Far superior to the stock i7 920 fan included. *Runs very quietly in my new machine. *Looks awesome.
Cons: This thing is a monster to install. Took me forever to get it on the board and that was with an extra couple hands helping me out. I don't have a ton of experience with other coolers, but there has got to be a better way.
Summary: I purchased the Scythe ULTRA KAZE with this product that puts out a lot more air than the stock fan. Then I took the stock scythe fan and replaced my stock coolermaster 820 exhaust fan. Excellent Tempts I have yet to test under high stress... I'll wait for my asus 5970 to get here for that
Pros: 4.5 but only whole #s dropped idle temps 10deg (i7 920) now 20ish deg Symmetrical! Some of these coolers look too abstract and take up lots of space with unique designs sure this may take up a little space but I didnt have to mod anything to fit it (except aftermarket fan which doesnt count) The ...
Cons: Install is a pain! I thought 20mins tops. 1.5hrs later I was loosing my patience I had to mod the bracket to fit my aftermarket fan
Summary: I'm thinking about mounting the fan on the bottom of the cooler to push air up and out of the 200mm fan on the top of the Antec 900.
Pros: 1. Very quiet. 2. Coldest temps I've seen w/Q6600 oc'ed to 3.0Ghz. 22 C ambient = 31 C idle / 55 C Full load Gigabyte UD3P mobo Antec 900 case
Cons: 1. The fan covers the first memory slot if you install it to push air. (you cannot install memory in the closest slot in UD3P motherboard). 2. The cooler itself gently touches the window mounted case fan in the Antec 900.
Pros: This cooler is very effective at keeping my Core i7 920 cold. Under 100% load the temps didn't exceed 45 C. And at idle (in a cold room) they were only 16 C. Very cheap for this performance.
Cons: Size, this thing is enormous, as everyone has been saying. I have the Thermaltake Armor 800 and I couldn't put the side door intake fans back on due to the height of this cooler. It was also very difficult to install on the 1366 socket, with all of the screws needing to be done from the under sid...
Summary: Things to seriously consider: 1. Side fans. It may conflict with a side panel fan. I had to remove the side fan on my Thermaltake V9 in order to make room for this cooler. 2. Ram. If your ram has large heat spreaders or heat sinks then they may not work together.
Pros: Amazing performance especially for the price & for not being a direct touch pipe design. Simple design. Fan mounting options. Seriously, outperforms many coolers that cost twice as much!
Cons: Just the shear size. Pictures & pulling out a tape measure don't do it justice. If you try to mount the fan on the ram side of the cooler it covers up several dimms. The only reason I deducted an egg is the it didn't come with enough mounts to mount two fans.
Summary: Kind of wish I'd gone with another HSF, but after installation it seems to do the job and there aren't many other options for LGA 1377s.
Pros: - Does a decent job. My i7 quad runs around 38c idle.
Cons: - Super big, a PITA to install. The instructions that come with it are nearly useless, just one picture that shows all chipset varieties of installation at once. I had to find a video on youtube showing proper installation. - The fan clips that go around the cooling block are annoying. The fan it...
Pros: PRICE ! Great performances for that price. I am using an I7 920, which is quite hot CPU itself, but i ve been able to OC @3.6 having 38 - 40 idle and about 72 full load, which is still pretty safe for this CPU and is rock stable.
Cons: call me "impatient', but assembly instructions are not the best and it s quite a pain in the b**t to put together, but not impossible. Just i was expecting abit simpler. That s why 4 stars
