Great Cooler!

Pamela B., Newegg
4 January 2015
  • Summary: Am seriously thinking about adding 2 more fans, because its cheaper than installing water-cooling.
  • Pros: This has kept my CPU (FX 6300) temp below 70 C @ OC'd at 4100Ghz playing 3d video intensive games for hours...and that's not even at full VR throttle! And, its very quiet, too. I didn't have any real difficulty installing it either. I highly recommend this cooler!
  • Cons: No Cons...really! I think people who buy this need to be aware that it is a very large piece of hardware, though, and is probably not going to fit in any case smaller than a mid-tower, with few exceptions. I suggest making sure that purchasers pay very close attention to measurements listed for t...

Install it upside down!

Aaron K., Newegg
15 July 2012
  • Summary: Not sure why so many 1 star reviews. It's a quality product that has the potential to give the same performance as the more expensive heatsink/fans out there. Install it upside down.
  • Pros: - Good efficiency; It currently cooling my 3570k ~70C 1.34V; note my case has bad airflow and I put the fan speeds to low - Lots of heat pipes - Good price
  • Cons: - It's a pain to install, wasted a lot of time trying to get this guy installed

Great heatsink poor packaging

Matthew S., Newegg
14 June 2011
  • Summary: This was too large to put my side case fan on. I am running an in win dragon master. If Skythe will fix the fact that they are missing hardware, the fan issue, and the poor instructions this would be a great heatsink.
  • Pros: 60 degrees @ 3.7GHZ on a Phenom 1100 Looks mean
  • Cons: Didn't come with the correct hardware (was missing several screws and rubber grommets) Screws rest all the weight directly on the board Poor Design (should have some type of bushing like the factory backplate had) I am having to replace the fan as mine starts making a clicking noise when the heat...

Great cooler, but WAY too big for my build

Sean W., Newegg
18 April 2011
  • Summary: Even after measuring my height clearance in my case, and measuring my clearance to the other components, this was still too big because of the passive cooling on my MB.
  • Pros: none
  • Cons: Too big for the MSI P67A-GD65 . This is a huge cooler and it didn't fit my motherboard ( MSI P67A-GD65 (B3) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard) . The clearance around the CPU on the motherboard is limited due to the northbridge passive cooling that MSI has on the board. T...

The best CPU heatsink!

Louis L., Newegg
15 April 2011
  • Summary: Add an extra 120mm fan to each side for maximum cooling :)
  • Pros: Ridiculous amount of cooling for any setup. I added 2x additional fans to this thing and I can't believe the difference! Less than half the temp at load, lol
  • Cons: NONE

A helping hand.

Crystal W., Newegg
12 April 2011
  • Summary: I would not recommend using this cooler at all. Please research for yourself, go to google and search for video review's for the Scythe Mine 2.
  • Pros: The cost of the cooler is not very pricey. I gave it two eggs for that alone.
  • Cons: To be nice as I can the cooler does not perform well at all. I could safely say the cooler performs just barely better than a stock cooler.

  • Excerpt: Heat is the enemy of any electronic component and most especially the CPU. If your CPU is overheating you won’t get the performance you should and if your cooler is screaming to relieve that heat you’ll wish there was a better way.
  • Pros: Quiet!, Uses stock heatsink retention bracket, Effective, Mirror finish to the all copper base, Ingenious socket adapter installation, Solid
  • Cons: Large
