Looks good, takes up space, cools it down

Lance K., Newegg
15 November 2008
  • Summary: if it goes on sale, buy it! can't hurt.
  • Pros: It does help cool the hard drive.. looks nice and cool blue. Quiet too!
  • Cons: it almost didn't fit on my seagate. Screws had to scratch the aluminum side to fit into the holes. Just made me worried is all.

Jeremy N., Newegg

  • Summary: virtually silent and moves a decent amount of air. dropped hd temps 3-5 degrees c. if you have a thermaltake armor you would have to put the hd's in upside down with this cooler on but no biggie. this will work in pretty much any case.
  • Pros: quiet cheap effective attractive
  • Cons: none

User Review

James S., Newegg
10 September 2008
  • Summary: Great gift item. I also don't have a way of measuring temperature, so I don't really know how much this thing cools my HDD. Don't really care either, HDD worked without a fan for 5+ years. Bought for fun.
  • Pros: Fits to the underside (goes upside down from relation of pictures here) of your HDD, plugs into PSU for fan. -Has a in and out molex connector, so you don't have to buy a Y connector, or blow a connector for just one fan. -Pretty Blue Colour -Cheap -Lined up with HDD -You can take out the 80mm fa...
  • Cons: These aren't really cons, and not in any way the fault of the mfg. -I'm going to get a big vid card soon, and since this takes up another HDD spot, may have to take it off, since there would be no room at all. -Was a tight fit, but it's on and working. -Too pretty! I had it out for 2 days looking...

Slightly disappointed

Michael S., Newegg
9 September 2008
  • Summary: The reason it's a "2" and not a "3" is because all it had to do was mount, and it doesn't even do that. One thing, and the manufacturer couldn't handle that. I guess "minute of accuracy" is out of the question when you pay this little for a product.
  • Pros: I knocked off 4ºC from my hard drive. Quiet as can be, not a noise to be heard.
  • Cons: Another case of poor craftsmanship. The mount is too wide for the 4 screws to line up (Rosewill's fault). However, if the fan was mounted, it wouldn't fit in my eMachine W4685 chassis anyway (not Rosewill's fault). Instead, I have it leaning against my hard drive.

GhettoBSD Approved!

5 September 2008
  • Summary: Going to buy more for my other systems. It's kept my drives cooler than i've ever seen them. They're very quiet. I have great hearing so i can hear them. But as of this writing i have 20 80mm case fans, 1 80mm gpu fan, 1 zalman cpu cooler with giant fan on full, PS with 120mm exhaust fan and 2 sata...
  • Pros: Fairly cheap when i purchased (on sale). I like the color
  • Cons: Didn't quite fit my WD and SG sata drives. They were a little too wide, so i screw-ed in one side, then forced with my thumb the other side so i could screw in that side. Maybe i'm a little slow but i couldn't figure out where the rubber mounts go :P They can't go between the screw and the heat s...

Probably the best $4 ever spent

Anonymous, Newegg
25 July 2008
  • Summary: I've lost 3 boot drives to crashes on a hard-working 24/7 machine in the last 18 months. I finally decided that was too much for coincidence and did more research --turns out my usual 24/7 hdd temp of ~ 43-45C was on the high side and that there was general consensus that every 10C increase in temps...
  • Pros: Drive temps dropped from ~45C to 34C. Very quiet. No installation problems.
  • Cons: Can't think of any.

Matt N., Newegg
23 July 2008
  • Summary: this is the first HDD fan i've bought, but will be the last for this PC of mine. it's on all the time as a file server, and it literally makes no noise.
  • Pros: VERY quite. i can't tell it's on. It's like i have a fan-less case.
  • Cons: none.

Nice manual controlling fan.

Stuart H., Newegg
17 July 2008
  • Summary: No instructions. But really? Who needs them if you are semi knowledgable with computers.
  • Pros: Very quiet at lowest setting 1950RPMs. Love the Blue light, and Temperature gauge. The variable fan speed is great to have.
  • Cons: Very Loud at Max 3900RPMs. Starts to produce noticable noise around 1/3 speed 2500 RPMs. Scree mounts in chassis is about 1/4" off from case. Sticks out. Used the adjustment slider mount holes to adjust for the difference since I am just using it as a cooling fan.
