Expert Review

29 December 2013
  • Summary: UPDATED! The NZXT Kraken X40 is a small self contained CPU liquid cooling system based on the exceptionally popular Asetek platform. As with most all-in-one liquid coolers, the Kraken X40 is differentiated from its sister model - the Kraken X60 - by its thinner 140mm-sized aluminum heat exchanger.

NZXT Kraken X40 Review

10 June 2013
  • Excerpt: The Kraken X40 breaks the current trend of closed-loop water coolers rocking 12cm fans by upping its fan size to 14cm fan, which NZXT promises delivers more heat dissipation and better cooling without subjecting users to deafening fan noise. It’s a lofty promise, but having tested it, we can tell you that this Kraken's bite lives up to its bark.
  • Pros: Super cool and quiet; customizable and easy-to-use software.
  • Cons: Expensive; requires 14cm-compatible chassis.

NZXT Kraken X40 review

The Guru of 3D
11 February 2013
  • Summary: The all in one Liquid Cooling kits are becoming a new trend, quite a few companies are releasing these products, most of them all use Asetek as an OEM. That's also why the product will be fairly close to each other in terms of performance. What matters a lot is the number of fans used and the radiator size. And that radiator size from it's typical 120mm towards 140mm does seem to make a very sturdy impression.

NZXT Kraken X40 CPU Cooler Review

Hardware Secrets
31 January 2013
  • Summary: The NZXT Kraken X40 proved to be an excellent liquid cooling system for CPUs. It performed wonderfully in the Extreme mode, and combined high cooling performance with low noise level in the Silent mode. The product is well-made and has an excellent overall quality. The only issue about the Kraken X40 is about the compatibility with your case: several cases available nowadays only have openings for 120 mm fans at the rear and top panels, and the Kraken X40 needs a 140 mm...

NZXT Kraken X40 Liquid CPU Cooler Review

25 January 2013
  • Conclusion: NZXT’s Kraken X40 will be coming to most markets very soon, within the next month for most retailers, and it will hit the shelves at about £85 in the UK. Relatively speaking, this is priced dangerously close to Corsair’s H100i which offers more performance, performance potential and expandability. I probably would of liked to have seen this product hit the shelves at £75-77.50 to reflect its actual position in the market in terms of performance.

NZXT Kraken X40 Liquid CPU Cooler

1 January 2013
  • Summary: We have had the opportunity to take a look at quite a few NZXT products here at BCCHardware over the past couple years and it seems like every time we are left pleasantly surprised at what we see. Even though the Kraken series of water coolers is NZXT's first attempt at self-contained liquid cooling, from what we saw with the Kraken X40 it looks like they know what they are doing.
  • Pros: Fantastic Performance, Great Software Included, High Quality Construction, Good Value, Customizable LED Lights, 2 Year Warranty
  • Cons: Nothing Major

NZXT Kraken X40 Review

28 February 2013
  • Excerpt: 19 Flares 19 Flares × Today we are going to take a look at the Kraken X40, which is one of NZXT’s first attempts at a performance liquid cooler.  It is a similar design to the X60, however it features a smaller 140 mm radiator for those who don’t have room for a 280 mm unit in their case.  We look forward to seeing how it performs in our tests.

NZXT Kraken X40
