Conclusion: The Noctua NH-U9B SE2 was a pleasure to install, as is every Noctua cooler, but did it perform well enough to pick up any awards from us today? I guess there’s only one real way to find out so let’s add up the positives and negatives to determine an outcome.
Summary: Final Thoughts
We know Noctua for some of the best air coolers out there, but normally their coolers are quite large and are made for full-size PC builds. It is much harder to shrink down an air cooler and still have the same type of performance. Well it looks like Noctua was able to do that with the NH-U9B SE2 cooler. This makes it perfect for a small form factor gaming machine where you still want that great performance and might even be overclocking your processor.
Pros: Good performance, Small and compact, SecuFirm2 mounting system, Good accessories package, 6 year warranty
Summary: Noctua's NH-U9B SE2 has proven to be a decent performer. Its quality and bundled accessories set it apart from the rest of the competition. As usual, Noctua has bundled the cooler with easy to install mounting hardware for almost every current CPU socket along with a pair of excellent 92 mm fans, thermal grease, and tools to make installation a breeze.
Pros: Extremely quiet, Mounting hardware included for use with all modern CPU sockets, Includes high quality fans, Excellent mounting setup, Four heat pipe tower design, Durable and attractive nickle plating, Detailed graphical installation instructions for both Intel and AMD sockets, Compact size great for SFF and HTPC's, Six year warranty
Cons: Price, Possible interference with memory modules, Fan wiring may be a bit too long
Noctua NH U9B Cooler SE 2 with Silverstone Sugo SG07
6 August 2010
Excerpt: 1 Flares 1 Flares × Our recent review of the Silverstone Sugo SG07 stirred a lot of interest with our readers and I received emails asking if it would be possible to passively cool a high performance processor in this chassis. KitGuru seemingly has a core audience of readers who loathe noise, with a vengeance.
Conclusion: If you are seeking for top performance for your PC, then performance wise, it makes more sense to go with a traditional tower cooler. However if you have a small enclosure or an HTPC, the NH-U9B SE2 is a smart choice.
Cons: Performance wise, it is not a best-buy solution, Installation procedure takes some time, but it is straight forward
