Summary: Noctua makes killer fans, and has great support to back up their product. This specific unit does not come with a back plate for AMD motherboards because it relies on the stock back plate. I was replacing a Coolermaster that used a proprietary back plate and was unable to install this. I sent an email to Noctua support, who sent me a back plate the next day. Knowing Noctua is headquartered in Austria, I prepared for a 15-20 day wait for shipping.
Summary: I first opened this package and was like no way in hell is this going to fit... Sure enough it fit just fine. I originally planned to use the one fan configuration but decided ill leave my case open and use the two for extra cooling. Brings my phenom 955x4 idle around 40 which is a huge difference from the previous heatsink idled over 60 easily. Comes with everything you'll need and is built of the highest quality.
One of the very best low-profile quiet CPU Heatsinks for air flow and noise if swap fans out with even better 120mm fan

Summary: Review for: Noctua NH-L12 Low-Profile Quiet CPU Heatsink OVERVIEW: ----------- This is often reviewed as ONE OF THE BEST IF NOT THE BEST low-profile CPU heatsink for NEAR SILENT OPERATION with STRONG CPU COOLING, made by a well-respected enthusiast company in the silent/quiet PC world. I can't hear it with the case open and my head practically next to it with just a little speed adjustment and the temperatures are excellent.
Summary: Well, what can I say that hasn't been said by the other reviewers? It is by far the highest quality cooler I've ever seen in all respects: the packaging, the accessories (everything is included, from the thermal paste and the low-RPM cables down to a special screwdriver), the fans, and the heatsink are all top notch! Even the instructions are provided in a neat little folder!
Summary: I use my computer mostly for work, but also for media. More than anything, I just want my computer to be quiet and stable. So I purchased this cpu cooler because it had a reputation for being quiet and cool. Well, it does what it is reputable for. My CPU stays cool and the fan is super quiet. My last fan went CRAZY whenever I would play a video. This thing doesn't even budge. I use this fan on an ASUS M5A99FX Pro R2.0 AM3+.
Summary: Install was extremely easy on my A10-5800k CPU - the excellent mounting bracket parts go right into the already-present backplate. Makes very little noise even without the low-RPM adapters. Good buy for a low-noise install. Only disappointment was that with the low-RPM fan power cables, it couldn't quite keep up with the A10-5800k at load (prime95) - but their site recommends using those adapters with AMD CPUs of 65W TDP or below anyway, so I can't knock off a star for...
Summary: This is a pricey fan, but has been working great on my Win7, Ivy Bridge system. It comes with all sorts of adapters and well made pieces. I'm using it without the smaller fan (just the larger) to make it even quieter still. Combined with a Stryker fanless power supply and an Antec Sonata Series SOLO II Black ATX Mid Tower Computer Case and SSDs, I cannot hear in running 4 feet away, and I'm sensitive to these sort of things.
