Summary: Over all I would suggest any buyer looking to get a decent heat sink to STAY AWAY from this ugly piece of junk. Not worth the money spent on it and you surely are better off with a stock CPU heat sink or possibly anything else. And if all else the level of noise that comes from it will surely drive you insane.
Pros: The cooling works.
Cons: There's a lot of cons with this heat sink -Huge pain to install, definitively have never had this much trouble and frustration installing a heat sink. Instructions were not clear and I had to find a video just to realize that there were tiny holes in the heat sink to get to the screws. -This thing keeps my CPU about as cool as the stock CPU fan that came with my processor did. -It is overall a hideous piece of equipment, I bought this because of the price and since th...
Summary: Shouldn't cost much to tighten the balance specs on the fan blades. I am thinking about trying to get a balanced fan from Noctua.
Pros: Nice kit. Went together well on an AMD FX-8150 mounted on an ASUS Crosshair V in an Antec P193 case with about 1 inch of headroom to spare.
Cons: The fans are not well balanced, i.e., they cause vibration at about 950 rpm. I am using only one of the fans to cool the CPU but have tested both fans and they both vibrate @ 950. Solder is an easily embrittled alloy and doesn't respond favorably to constant vibration which can cause embrittlement. The constant vibration IMHO will reduce longivity of the motherboard solder connections in the vicinity of the CPU.
Summary: I went from a Cooler Master V8 to a V6 GT to this. This cooler even though it shakes cools the same as my V6 GT at 42-46c idle on a i7-920 overclocked at 3.2Ghz. My room temp is around 75F all the time. I had to RMA this cooler for a different cooler. It's a shame. I will never buy a Noctua again. I might of got a defective one but it seems the powerful fans it comes with are too powerful for the heatsink with one support bar in the middle. Get a different cooler.
Pros: The fans are very well made.
Cons: I installed it and mounted it everyway I can and no matter what it shakes the heatsink like a engine running. I only have one of the included fans it came with on it. I don't like the plastic mounting bushings for the mounting.
Summary: I paid 90$ for a top of the line cpu cooler, and ended up wasting 90$ figuring as it didn't change my temps whatsoever. I know thermal paste can take a while to work right, but they claim the thermal paste they give you is amazing right out of the tube. I'll give it a few weeks and wright another review both fans are working properly, but imean cmon, i was atleast hoping for it to lower my temps just a LITTLE bit, but nope, 90$ for the same as my stock cooler, which is...
Pros: As i said, looks very beast.
Cons: Got this processor today, upgrading from a stock cpu cooler on the i5 2500k, the stock cooler gave me 25-30c idle temps, this cooler is giving me the same thing. i was expecting an upgrade. but i guess not, it dropped my bios temp by 10c, but that doesn't mean much, i care about temps while running windows, not bios.
