Summary: I owned two of these prior and bought a few more to vent my cabinet. I combined it with a thermostat to turn off and on when the cabinet was on. My older fans were much louder and these are quiet enough that I no longer hear them even if they are on when there is not any noise in the house. I now have 4 of these fans cooling the amplifier (two pull, two push) running when the amp, Sat box, DVD player, and PS3 are running.
Summary: The power supply fan makes way more noise, and it is a high end quiet power supply. The only issue is that the different resistor cables to control speed are not labeled. You need to go online to find out what the colors mean.
Summary: If you care about fans in your computer, then this is a great choice. If you are saying "WTF would someone spend that much on a fan when I can just crank up the audio?" then save your money for the next release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 . The Noctua does a good job of moving air with negligible sound. This the tradeoff I am looking for - how little noise can I create and still maintain system performance.
Summary: I was expecting quite a bit from these Noctuas after their high general praise and decent reviews on hardware sites. Plus, their high price meant that they should be a premium product that performs decently right? I was fairly dissapointed though at the airflow this thing puts out. Compared to the stock Lian-Li stickered fans, these are only marginally quieter (I wouldn't even say that, as it emits a higher pitched sound, though quieter by dB, its more annoying) and...
Summary: I'm not a computer geek but I guess I should get more info before purchase,... but this fan came out way to big for my pc. - But as item reviews are great and my pc use 3 fans 2 are different brand the one on the processor is noctua and it really is very quite it silence!!
