Noctua NF-S12 and NF-R8 cooling fans review

Elite Bastards
25 March 2012
  • Conclusion: With the NF-R8 and NF-S12 fans on show today, Noctua promised good performance coupled with quiet running, and in that sense these parts did exactly what was asked of them - All of these three parts can shift air in or out of a case efficiently, and do so without creating a lot of noise.

Noctua NF-R8 and NF-S12 Case Fan Review

nvnews.net
29 August 2007
  • Excerpt: Quite a few people out there are still using air cooling solutions to keep their cases cooled down and their hardware running in top form. As long as you're not into really heavy overclocking, you're probably using fans on all your components. What are the main problems with fans though?

Noctua NF-R8 & NF-S12 Fans

Mikhailtech
24 July 2007
  • Excerpt: Oh no, another fan review! Well, not quite. As we all know, all fans are not created equal. For those who have been around computers for several years, you'll remember the never-ending craze for Panaflo L1A's. As a matter of fact, they still sell like hotcakes today. Why?
  • Pros: Above and beyond retail package, Complete kit, New blade designs, Wire sleeving, Extremely quiet, Great airflow given the noise levels, Included 3-pin extension cables with inline resistors (ULNA and LNA) for even quieter operation, Industry leading 6 year warranty
  • Cons: 80mm fan doesn't start up with ULNA (needs a push), LNA should be included with 120mm fan, Noise compensator plugs too wide for complete installation, Color scheme may not be for everyone, Price: $15 for 80mm kit, $20 for 120mm kit

  • Excerpt: The newest fan offerings from Noctua are real gems! They are quiet (silent, when used with the ULNA,) and move a respectable amount of air. While I hate to make generalizations about such things, these fans exhibit the high quality, innovative features and performance that products from this part of...

  • Conclusion: Unless you want to play Flight Simulator without a sound card and a set of speakers, chances are that you want to make your computer as silent as possible. In the past few years, this emphasis has already been quite strong -- and manufacturers are springing out of everywhere claiming to construct...

Noctua NF-S12 & NF-R8 Fans

GideonTech
14 March 2007
  • Conclusion: The U.L.N.A (Ultra-Low-Noise Adaptor) is a power cable that has a resister in line with the fan, cutting the amount of power that the fans uses, which slows it down. If you use those, there is not a way to speed up the fan without powering it down and removing it.
  • Pros: Light color fan shell, Comes with four vibration compensators., Low noise levels
  • Cons: Low air movement, U.L.N.A needs a power down to reset speed

Noctua Blows - NF-R8 and NF-S12 Fan Review

BCCHardware
28 January 2007
  • Summary: The stock used in the testing is an ARX Brushless Sleeve Bearing Fan, part number FD1212-S3133E. This was the fan that was supplied with the Inwin chassis after it was purchased and spins at 1800 RPM. The fan does its job well, but let’s sees if the Noctua fans can keep up in terms of cooling.
  • Pros: Definitely esthetically pleasing with warm colours, Low dB without sacrificing performance, Sleeved wires for less hassle with wire management, Two different models of 120mm fans to choose from
  • Cons: The 80mm model was no worse or better than traditional 80mm fans.
