A 120mm fan with adapters for 140mm

John M., Newegg
31 January 2013
  • Summary: The hardware to mount this fan is very complete. It has screws and soft rubberized mounts included so as to minize vibration transferred to the case. Seems to run nicely once properly installed and moves air decently. I have a total of 4 fans in my Fractal Design R4. This fan is my exhaust exit fan, facing the rear of the case. Otherwise I have 1x120mm fan attached to my water cooling radiator and 2x140mm fans in the front of the case pushing air in across the HDDs.
  • Pros: Nice fan design. Packaging is great. Lots of accessories included for mounting to various opening sizes.
  • Cons: Not really a 140mm fan. When shopping on Newegg for this item, I selected the "140mm" filter. Expected to find ONLY 140mm fans. Nope! This little jewel pops up as a 140mm fan when it is ACTUALLY 120mm. Some adapters from Noctuna allow you to mount it to 140mm mount points. But is certainly NOT a 140mm fan. I bought it here and was surprised to receive a 120mm fan. Hey Newegg! You got any 100mm fans with adapters for 140mm mounting? Why not put them in the 140mm filter...

  • Summary: Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be doing any better than the stock fan that came with my case as a bottom intake. I thought the Static Pressure was supposed to make this fan excel at such things.
  • Pros: Compact for a 140mm fan
  • Cons: 120mm fan mountings by default Extended mounting options are rather odd

Expected Better

Winston L., Newegg

  • Summary: Expensive for what you get. The low noise adapters are worthless since they prevent the fan from starting. My Rig: ASUS M4A79 Deluxe Motherboard AMD Phenom II X4 920 Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 8GB Sapphire Radeon 4870 Graphics Card PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750W PSU Cooler Master HAF 932 Case
  • Pros: Moves a lot of air at full speed 1200 RPM. Anti-Vibration mounts. Sleeved cable.
  • Cons: Fan would not start when connected to any fan headers on my motherboard even with automatic fan control turned off in the BIOS. Had to connect directly to my Power Supply with 3-4 pin molex adapter to get fan to start. Fan is a bit loud at full speed for my taste. Tried using the supplied Low Noise adapters, but fan would not start reliably.

Overpiced

  • Summary: I put aside the ugliness for the performance it was suppsed to offer, it moved plenty of air but way to loud. And for the price, I would much rather go for an Apache- actually looks nice, silent and has just as good performance in my opinion. A good fan, but just good.

Disappointed

  • Summary: Having bought a pair of these fans on the back of my previous excellent experience with all things Noctua, I have to say I am very disappointed. Whilst they shift alot of air, they are not quiet. My advice is to look elsewhere for 140mm fans or buy the 120mm Noctua fans. The latter are practically silent at full speed.

Dissapointed

  • Summary: Got one of these and some of the smaller 120mm version. The 120mm blew me (pun most certainly intended) away. This didnt really, the p12 s I can leave on full, no noise, I have to slow this down some to avoid an annoying whine. This also doesnt seem to shift much more air either. Got it as a replacement for a 140mm tricool and I am considering putting the tricool back on.

Moyeux bruyant a pleine vitesse, j'ai trouvé mieux...
