Vantec Nexus NXP-201 Fan Controller Review

27 May 2008
  • Conclusion: The NXP-201 is certainly a well-designed fan controller that should appeal to a large market. What makes this unit stand out from its competitors is a smart look that no other product comes close to matching.
  • Pros: Easy installation, Great aesthetic appeal, Supports up to 18 W per channel, Unique backlit knobs, Fits cases with bezel-mounted doors, Cable extensions provided
  • Cons: Only drops voltage to 7 volts, Slight buzzing noise at lowest voltage setting, No functional use of lighting, Fan header orientation may prove awkward during installation

Expert Review

2 June 2003
  • Summary: Vantec have done it again by bringing a product out that was once only available to advanced case modders with a penchant for soldering and electronics. A fan controller is one of those simple ideas that comes under the category of "I should have thought of that and become rich off it".
  • Pros: Looks luvverly, Four channels for four fan control, 12v all the way down to 7v Tames even the loudest fans (Cough Tornados Cough), Comes in two colors, Wires etc. included, Superb price
  • Cons: Not enough four pin adapters for my setup, Could come in more than two colors
