Great Cooler

James J., Newegg
16 April 2012
  • Pros: I have been running this cooler on my overclocked to 3.4ghz Q8200 intel core 2 quad for over 2 years. Temps are great. Never had a problem with overheating. Not a bad cooler for the price.
  • Cons: its quite a big cooler, I had to modify a corner of the side fan on my Antec 900 to make it fit, but not a big deal.

Wonderful

Anonymous, Newegg
9 July 2010
  • Summary: Works with our Socket F server Motherboard
  • Pros: I have the SUPERMICRO MBD-H8Di3+-F-O Dual 1207(F) AMD SR5690 Extended ATX Dual Six-Core AMD Opteron 2000 Series Server Motherboard.. This works great on this Socket F motherboard... Though you must have a BIG server case or this will not fit.. We use this case CHENBRO SR10769-BK-T 1.0mm SECC Pede...
  • Cons: Had to bend the cooler a little to fit in server case.. Though not real a con

Decent Cooloer as long as it's not AMD

Henry R., Newegg
21 June 2010
  • Summary: Thumb screws and CPU retention brackets, as far as my experience goes, is epic fail. Be prepared to take some time puting this thing together if you're doing it in case. I recommend installing it on the mobo before you install the mobo in the case.
  • Pros: Great cooler for my overclocked Intel CPU. There are better ones out there, but they are more expensive. I used it as a cheap alternative when my the pump on my hybrid water/TEC went out. So for the price you get what you pay for and maybe a little more. Took off 1 Egg because it advertises AM3 c...
  • Cons: I have never had any problems with this cooler on any of my Intel 775 CPU's with the case in any position Although when I got a new cooler and put this on my brother's Phenom II 555 Black I noticed that it wasn't doing as well. When the computer is on it's side it works exactly how I thought it w...

Not for Socket F!

Maurice B., Newegg
7 June 2010
  • Summary: This doesn't fit Socket F despite what its specs say. I searched their site high and low and couldn't find any directions on installing this beast. Really wish I'd read the reviews before buying...
  • Pros: It fit back into its box nicely which will make the return easy.
  • Cons: Doesn't fit Socket F.

Zero Customer Service ~ Faulty Product

Shane P., Newegg
23 May 2010
  • Summary: This was the most obnoxious install for a heatsink I have dealt with in years. I wouldn't buy another Mascool product based on their response to my issue.
  • Pros: None - Heat not transferring to heat pipes and fins. Temps over 90 C Customer Service Unresponsive
  • Cons: I initially contacted customer service for instructions on how to install this behemoth onto my Phenom II X4 965, it looked as though I was missing something. They responded back within a day with instructions. I installed this per their instructions and was getting mediocre temperature readings ...

Dramatic Improvement over OEM Cooler

ANGELA A., Newegg
9 April 2010
  • Pros: Stable Chassis, easy to install, nice packaging, dropped my cpu's idle temp by 7 degrees C and my full load temp by 17 degrees! Looks like a nuclear reactor.
  • Cons: I would prefer a tighter fit, one of the retaining clips broke (I tightened it too hard), but was able to make it work with the provided screws

Good Cooler

Adolfo Z., Newegg
1 April 2010
  • Summary: I have a Core 2 Duo E4300 1.8GHz overclocked to 3.01GHz (334 FSB) with a Vcore of 1.360v, the computer runs 24/7. On the stock cooler I was running 53-55C idle on desktop, nudging 80C after an extended gaming session. Idle was only improved slightly, sitting consistently at 48-50C on the desktop.
  • Pros: Easy to mount on my LGA 775 Core 2 Duo (the only pain was to remove the mobo, then all you have to do is slide the plate behind it, and tighten all 4 screws all the way down.) Large yet very light, copper base has best finish I've seen on any heatsink this side of 50 bucks. Fan being inside the f...
  • Cons: Now I have to replace the 92mm exhaust fan in my case because comparatively its too loud. ;)

Huge and a Pain!!

Drew E., Newegg
10 March 2010
  • Summary: This is my 4th build, I only display my build so you know what I'm dealing with. When everybody else does it helps me when i choose a new product and you can see if certain products work with others.
  • Pros: Very durable..looks cool
  • Cons: Real pain to install..so big i couldn't get it to fit in my xclio case. very loud. i had the mounts mounted on the copper base three different ways because i didn't think it was seating correctly or tight enough, before i just put my cheapy reliable 13 dollar syba back on. I've got a zalman on th...

Works nice, but pretty large

Shirley F., Newegg
19 February 2010
  • Summary: Thermal paste is very nice that comes with this cooler. Unless you are a over-clocker this paste should be more than enough. I hae never used Artic silver 5, but I feel like it hsa the same consitince of it. But not sure.
  • Pros: This cooler is massive and cools my Core2Duo very well. I let it run at stock clock which is 2.2Ghz and it never got about 92 degrees F. Which is alot better than my previous cooler. If you are looking for a nice cooler for a cheep price go with this. But make sure you have fans to pull air out t...
  • Cons: The front kinda tilt's after I removed the plastic band. I don't think it is suposed to tilt but either way it hasnt caused any problems yet. This fan is diffucult to install on a LGA 775 board though. i actually had to hand tighten the screws before I could use a screwdriver.
