What's the problem?

Danovan H., Newegg
16 July 2014
  • Summary: For reference I am running a "AMD phenom I I X4 940" If someone has a better alternative in mind that is on the budget side of price ranges I'd appreciate it.
  • Pros: Even when the fan really starts to push out its higher end of RPMs it is relatively quite.
  • Cons: As hard as the fan is working it can't seem to keep the CPU cool. After light to moderate use from surfing to gaming my system suddenly shuts down abructly and completely. Also while just sitting on the hardware health screen of the BIOS, the CPU temp is steadily rising.

Worked Ok For A Month

William P., Newegg
9 November 2012
  • Pros: None that I can think of honestly!
  • Cons: Worked great for about the first month. Now it's loud and will only get up to 1750 rpm, rated at 4200 rpm. I can also tell through my hardware monitor software my cpu is running at least 20 degrees hotter. I am so disappointed in this product. I would never recommend it. I am actually going to spend some more money on a better different brand at this point.

Not Worth it for me

Kevin O., Newegg
22 November 2011
  • Summary: When I built a system in may of 2005 this was the cooler I bought. That one lasted till 2010 before it started acting up. So in Feb of 2010 I purchased another one; heck 4 1/2 - 5 years is not too bad for that price; I can live with it. However it was just after 1 year that the new one started failing. It is easy enough to pull off the bottom sticker and lube the bearings as needed, but that gets old after a while; how much is your time worth?
  • Pros: * cheap * works pretty well on at least a stock configuration machine
  • Cons: Does not last.

  • Summary: When attempting to remove the fan from the sleeve, all four tiny little plastic pieces holding it together, cracked and broke. A tiny bit of epoxy got it back together.. Cleaned sleeve and shaft. Powdered graphite packed. Now good to go again.. For how long, suppose I'll find out. Definitely should have read the reviews on this before purchasing. Bottom line. Waste of money.
  • Pros: None
  • Cons: Three months after purchase, fan stopped spinning. Complete waste of money. Have purchased MassCool products before and had no issues. Appear to be unfortunate this time.

slipping quality

William C., Newegg
6 January 2011
  • Summary: Ive used these fans on several machines and they worked fine but this time it was really bad. Instead of doing an RMA on such a cheap item I just bought another locally. As usual Newegg ROCKS.
  • Pros: the fan works great for a case fan
  • Cons: When I got this it was in pieces. I had to try to put it back together and it wouldnt even do that due to a block on the fan mount.

Cheap Junk - 2 DOA

John L., Newegg
28 April 2010
  • Summary: I'm a computer tech and business owner... since May of 2000.
  • Pros: Should be a good cheap fan...
  • Cons: but it isn't. I ordered one and it arrive with the plastic piece that holds the fan in place broken. I called Newegg and they graciously shipped a replacement out the next day. When I got the replacement, that one was broken as well, but this time it was the actual fan that was cracked... Luckily, out of the two broken heatsink/fans I was able to build one good one.

Josh H., Newegg
22 April 2010
  • Pros: None
  • Cons: Bought this for some low end pcs for my sister and mother in law. After two weeks my mothers fan stopped turning, so i cleaned it up and it came back to life for a few days then died completely. Two weeks later my sisters locked up so bad i couldnt even turn it by hand.
