Intel only, forget putting it on an AMD

Joel E., Newegg
16 March 2012
  • Summary: Saying this is AMD compatible is a joke. This was a heatsink designed for an Intel processor and then marketing tossed in a clip to hold it on an AMD board. They clearly never even attempted to attach this to an AMD processor. I could have just as easily ghetto rigged any Intel heatsink to fit.
  • Pros: Its big, even with only one fan it cools better than the stock 955BE (3.2Ghz stock) AM3 cooler. I also had to remove the side fans to fit the side panel back on, so with more modification/jerry rigging it could cool better. With the stock cooler I was running 4.0Ghz on the first 2 cores and 3.5Gh...
  • Cons: I dont know how well this attaches to an Intel processor, but on a AMD processor the attachment hardware is complete junk. There is nothing to center the heatsink on the processor, you slap it on, tighten the lever and then just kinda scoot it around until you think it looks about like the middle...

Loud but effective

Adam P., Newegg
6 March 2012
  • Pros: Got it for a very good price, keeps my CPU very cool
  • Cons: The two fans run at 2000 RPM without the resistors plugged in making this thing very loud. It's also quite large, covers two of my ram slots on the motherboard.

Had to modify to install correctly on AMD

William V., Newegg
23 February 2012
  • Summary: For how well it cools the rebate price is a steal, so The install issue may be apparent to corsair
  • Pros: Great Tech, very low temps on fx-6100 at 4.71, gets to 70 Deg C with prime 95 but everything else is <60. Good price If I get my rebate. When fan control is set corectly in bios, ie Start, stop temp and start speed and increase level, this fan is very quite under normal use. High cpu loads like V...
  • Cons: On am3+ biostar the retaining lever was too tall for the fan to fit above it. there are two very small guides or rise fittings that had to be sliced off. Look at the fan bracket you will see them on the inside about 2mm high and 6 mm long. slice them flush and mount the fan with the sliced off gu...

Nice cooler :) , Bad Rebate :(

Vincent S., Newegg
21 December 2011
  • Summary: When considering a Heatsink, don't factor the price minus rebate. Because you may not get it. No support for the 2011 socket processors. I sent a email to support and they had a very short reply-"No it's not compatible, and there's no plan to modify the retention bracket."
  • Pros: The cooler performs well with 130W 1366 socket processors.
  • Cons: After 10wks I received a letter indicating that my submission did not qualify for postmarked date. The rebate only gives 21 days from purchase to submit, I completed mine in 14 days. I've had success in the past with two other rebates, so why deny this one now? Who knows, but don't count on your ...

Works great, however, Corsair rebates suck.

Brian I., Newegg
19 December 2011
  • Summary: I was denied my rebate from Corsair for $20. I filled everything out and submitted it properly. They listed on the rebate status online that I never mailed in a receipt (bull!) and that it wasn't on time. I was told I'd receive something in the mail about my rebate denial. That was in October.
  • Pros: -Works excellent. Cools my i5-2500k down to 20c.
  • Cons: -Pain to install on any mobo. -Takes up so much room that you can't have a fan on the side of your case. -Terrible rebate system from Corsair.

nice but too loud

robert e., Newegg
8 December 2011
  • Pros: it was very easy to install.
  • Cons: the fans are LOUD. even with the resistor that lowers the fan speed they are still pretty loud. it would drive me nuts if the pc had to sit beside me because even with the pc on the floor under the desk it is very audible.

Shoddy Quality, But Works Well.

Anthony L., Newegg
3 November 2011
  • Summary: The fans barely lined up with the heatsink, in fact the installation method is to simply push them until they "snap" into place. I'm not entirely sure the second fan reached the bottom since there is no way to install this with the fans on.
  • Pros: Name brand. Huge heatsink, does a great job cooling. I haven't gone over 50C with my AMD phenom x4 where-as the stock fan had a very hard time keeping it under 60C. That's when I have it throttled back.. not exactly by choice though, the cord wasn't long enough without the throttle. The compariso...
  • Cons: Huge (6.5" vs standard ATX case's 8"). Cheaply made. The parts require some minor assembly. The heatsink's clip is not easily used and comes apart during assembly more often than not. I had alot of trouble keeping the clip inside the grooves. The plug-in for the fans was not long enough to reach ...

Way Too BIG, Covers RAM Slots

Christopher P., Newegg
14 October 2011
  • Summary: If you can fit this cooler in your PC with minimal obsturction to your RAM's DIMM Slots then this cooler is actually pretty darn good, just beware that this is a very large cooler.
  • Pros: If this monstosity would actually fit, I have no doubt that it will significantly reduce your CPUs heat. However the cooling quality comes at significant cost. See Cons.
  • Cons: I am using AMD Main Board. The cooler comes with only a Intel bracket not an AMD one, you must use your existing AMD bracket to install the cooler, which restricts the orientation of the fan for me. I can't face the cooler LEFT to RIGHT, mine must be faced Down to Up because I am restircted to th...

Effective

CHARLES L., Newegg
4 October 2011
  • Summary: It keeps my desktop under 30 C degree. It's quite compared to stock fan. Installation is a bit awkward since there's not much space left inside the desktop for big hands.
  • Pros: Less noise compared to stock fan; works well.
  • Cons: It's huge. QA is terrible (one connector pin is not crimped). Instruction shows it has 4 pin CPU fan connector, but all connectors provided are 3 pins.

Pretty Good

Anonymous, Newegg
25 September 2011
  • Summary: It's really only worth the $27 that the rebate brings it down to. I was hoping for temps good enough to get me to a 4.0GHz OC, but that won't happen with 62c being the maximum safe temp on my CPU and I'm already hitting 60c at only 3.9GHz. Save a few bucks and go for the H60. It will be much better.
  • Pros: -Much better than a stock cooler -Came with TIM -Fairly simple installation -Idle temp of 32c -Load temp 60c with CPU voltage of 1.464v-1.472v @ 3.9GHz on an AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE -Rebate
  • Cons: -TIM was poor and hard to apply -Pretty large, blocked my first memory slot on my motherboard (Asus M5A97) and almost blocked the second
