using it on a router
LL B., Newegg
12 March 2012
Summary: I am using this on a Cisco Dual Band Wireless Router that many users reported getting too hot. I ordered this day one because I felt it was a great idea that others suggested. Once positioned correct it keeps the router at off temps to maybe a few degrees above off temps.
Pros: Small and just the perfect size for what I needed. It's pretty quiet even with all my computers off. I love that you can move the fan to where ever you need it. I kept my in the stock position. Good cable length for my application. See my other thoughts for how I am using it.
Pros: Everything that everyone has complained about works great for me. The USB cord/extender works with my wireless mouse. I haven't checked internal temperatures because that has never been my problem. I use this mostly while in bed and it keeps the sheets and blanket from blocking my MBP vents. It a...
Summary: did some basic testing and this had little effect on my cpu. this is likely an issue with the laptops i7 which i believe to be ulv. the video card on the other hand was night an day. i did some gaming on a flat surface and my temp was 65ishC. then i put it on this cooler with the fan removed.
Pros: Light weight, sturdy, simple yet modular design. the fan is dead silent and for me, this is a con but i know most people want this. they were even thoughtful enough to include a grill on the fan. has rubber snubbers to prevent scratching up stuff.
Cons: i am using an alienware m11x -r2 and it is a pinch bigger then this cooler. that being said, 14" seems a tad on the big side but it might still work. the fan plug is a little od but for my plans, it won't matter.
Summary: Bought this to go with an Acer Aspire AO532H that I ordered from Newegg as well. It is a perfect fit and I am completely satisfied with it. Since the netbook which has a very modest power supply, and in general I dislike USB powered devices since they draw from the PC power supply, I also ordered a...
Pros: Fan is VERY quiet Simple clean design Very solid, nothing to break
Summary: This may seem weird, and is not relevant for standard height kitchen countertops. My wife often has the netbook in the kitchen for recipes, placed on a standard height dining table, and it was hard to see the screen, even opened wide, while she was standing.
Pros: It fits my wife's Acer 11.6" netbook perfectly. Nicely made black anodized aluminum (fan is plastic, obviously). USB connector for fan is 'pass thru" type, so you don't lose a port. Very quiet. Not heavy, but aluminum is thick enough to not bend out of shape. Tilts keyboard slightly, so it is eas...
Cons: This is not a con for me, but the fan blows air toward the netbook, which exactly perfect for my Acer's airflow design. But if you needed the flow in the opposite direction (i.e. your laptop blows air out the bottom), one would need a screwdriver to reverse the fan in the snap-on housing that att...
