Summary: 3.5g is a small tube, the newer and better MX4 comes in a 4g big tube that seems to hold much more than this older variety.
Pros: Artic silver 5 was once king of thermal pastes, and that was because of its superior temps at a low price point. This stuff is easy to spread, works well when used properly. Is usually better than what comes with your stock heatsink as has been the case with me. Use on your graphics card as well....
Cons: There are now better compounds around for decent prices, such as artic's own MX4. A lot of 3rd party heatsinks are coming with their own thermal grease that is on par with this grease. Artic silver 5 is no longer the go-to product for performance and enthusiast users.
Summary: I am a system admin and a gamer, I normally spread the compounds i use evenly across the CPU and this has proven much more efficient than any other "rice grain" "x" or any other spreading method for cooling.
Pros: Its a CPU cooling compound.... nothing special.
Summary: This is a good budget solution and quality solution if you need thermal paste, however it takes ~100 hours and several thermal cycles for this paste to actually set, which could be a turn off for some people.
Summary: In my own and other online standard comparison tests for liquid cooling, this stuff is no where near IC Diamond or Thermal Grizzly (especially Kryonaut which I swear by!), but it's also not $28 per tube either. If you're using an all in one cooling system, Arctic Silver is great.
Pros: Cheap. Great thermal paste for the cost, it really is, and Arctic Silver always has been. I use it on a lot of the rigs I build for friends and customers because it keeps costs down and performs very well for what most people need it for, and of course eons beyond stock paste.
Cons: No "cons" really, but see "Other thoughts"...
Summary: Works very well, but it's not necessarily "the best". If you want your stuff to last as long as possible, use a long-lasting thermal compound such as Arctic MX-4. Most thermal compounds last 2-3 years before breaking down. ArcticSilver claims 8 years for MX-4.
Summary: I love Arctic Silver Thermal Compound products. I dicovered them by accident, and have never purchased another compund in about 20 - 25 years. This stuff (and the family of Arctic products) is superlative in what it does and how it works. But 3.5 grams???? For 7+ dollars???
