Excerpt: AS5 had a good long run but its no longer anywhere near the best mainstream thermal paste available. That crown is held by Masscool Shin-Etsu, Tunic TX2 or TX3, or Arctic Cooling MX2. All are either cheaper and perform better or the same price and perform better.<br />However AS5 is still a reliable and decent paste if you are in a bind.
Summary: Applied this to my CPU and had a 1-2 degree drop. Nothing crazy, I only really needed it because I needed to move things around in my build and had no paste around. There is better stuff, if you are looking for the best. You tube it.
Arctic Silver 5 is the most popular thermal grease

Summary: I'm taking 2 stars off for the unneeded cleaning solutions. I assume most people have alcohol around the house. You still need q-tips and coffee filter or lens wipes. You can't really go wrong with Arctic Silver 5. It is easy to apply being a thinner paste than many others and It does the job creating a good method of heat conduction between heat sink and CPU or GPU. The manufacturer claims a reduction of about 5c but this varies wildly.
Summary: After opening and trying to use noting came out. It was plugged with a big chunk of something. After clearing the clog I found that half the paste was solidified and formed the clog. Still enough to use but what a waste & a pain.
Summary: We used this on our PS3 after it overheated and then developed the 'yellow light of death' (YLOD). The compound does what it is intended to do but the price was a little much for so little. I was expecting much more. (about the size of a pinky finger) Still, I would recommend this if you're having overheating issues. Also, fyi - if your PS3 is a victim of the YLOD, your PS3 will need to be reballed professionally for a more permanent fix.
Summary: Arctic Silver 5 is one of THE names in thermal compound for mounting heatsinks. Not made clear in the description of this product, however, is that you're paying somewhat of a premium price for a tiny bottle of xylene cleaner (e.g., Goo Gone) and a tiny bottle of isopropyl alcohol. If you happen to have those items lying around in your cleaning arsenal, there's not much value added by this kit.
Summary: Use this Artic Silver 5 with my I930 and Noctua NH-U12P SE2 heatpipe cooler. Either I use too much or too little TIM but the temperature isn’t what I had expected. I’m not overclocking and temperature while idling is 36-41 degree. Not much better from stock heatsink which is around 42-44 degree. Maybe my expectation is too high.
Excerpt: Fits on a CPU. Did not see the dramatic cooling deltas that I would count on for some thing as pricey. Had superior thermal condution from the stock compund that came with the CPU fan. Sets up like epoxy, no need to have for a ZIF socket, pulled the chip correct out cemented to the cooler although removing it. Some swear by it, other people dont. Dont think I would use once more.
