  • Summary: The Freezer 13 Pro looks like a big step up from the previous model, but according to Frostytech's heatsink reference charts it works out to a ~3°C drop in temperature at full fan speed. Noise output is maintained at a reasonably quiet level, in part because the 120mm PWM fan utilizes fluid dynamic bearings, but mostly because the fan rotates at a slow speed.

Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 Pro CPU Cooler Review

31 July 2011
  • Summary: Conclusion Overall the Freezer 13 Pro is fairly simple to install, but there can be some clearance issues with this basic installation procedure. There’s only one way to install the cooler, at least for an AMD setup, of which most times can become a problem due to clearance issues with the motherboard.  This is the first CPU cooler that I have seen that utilizes a base fan, which I really think is a great idea and should be adopted by more manufacturers.

  • Conclusion: Canada -- the country full of ice. We live in igloos made from blocks of snow, ride dog sleighs to work, and, as bad as weather may seem, winter takes up almost twelve out of the twelve months of the year. There are a few months in between filled with surprising weather where you can't predict when will happen the next day, and such variable patterns are especially true here at APH Networks Calgary. For those who live in this city, you will know what I am talking about.

  • Excerpt: As with many things from days gone by, a few designs get overlooked and would have been a great product if minute changes would have been made on the original. Due to time constraints, or even the later development of an improvement idea, every once in a while a company will go back and rework the original into a much better revision for the second showing. It seems this is just one of those cases, so let's see what Arctic Cooling has up their sleeve.

  • Conclusion: I have mixed feelings regarding the performance of the Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 CPU cooler. At first, it looked very promising with its 4 Copper heatpipes, contoured Aluminum fins, as well as the included quiet 92mm fan. I was hoping for some really good temperatures. But during our tests, we managed to get an idle temperature of 26 degrees Celsius, peaking to around 46 degrees at full load.
