Look elsewhere

Harry T., Newegg
4 June 2014
  • Summary: I purchased about half a dozen or so of these over a year ago. All but one developed annoying ticks or bearing wine after only three months or so. They are supposed to last years.
  • Pros: Price
  • Cons: High failure rate

Misleading Noise Specification

William J., Newegg
15 September 2013
  • Summary: I just purchased 3 Noctua NF-S12A's, and they are really quiet.
  • Pros: It moves a substantial amount of air through the case.
  • Cons: It is loud, about 30 dBA. The advertised Noise Level of 0.5 Sones is intentionally misleading. Although 1 Sone = 40 dBA, the relationship between Sones and decibels is not linear, and 0.5 Sones = 30 dBA. Arctic is specifying Sones instead of dBA to confuse the buyer into thinking that the fan is quiet, when it is not. Avoid buying any product that specifies the Noise Level in Sones.

Good price but noisy

Will, dabs.com
11 January 2013
  • Summary: I have to start by saying that this is an exceptional price. Unfortunately, mounting the fan is not very easy, because there are no threaded holes, meaning you have to drive the screws through the plastic which an be somewhat challenging. Secondly, once installed, this fan is rather noisy compared to others. For this reason, I have disconnected the fan and will be replacing it with a better one.

Speed does not change

Gary S., Newegg
5 April 2010
  • Summary: I may just have a bad unit.
  • Pros: Mechanically excellent for my heatsink, lightweight
  • Cons: My unit does not change speed, it always runs at about 1150 RPM. The original heatsink fan does run slower at startup, and faster as the temperature rises. Not as quiet as the Noctua fan on the CPU in my previous PC.

Knappt godkänd

Tzond, Prisjakt
