fundamental design flaw

Adam Morrison, Amazon
25 September 2013
  • Summary: So this fan can only be installed if you have a top exhaust in your case!!! if you are planning on having it exhaust out the back "SURPRISE" it can't install that way. It wouldn't be so bad if their own included literature didn't show it blowing out the back like ALL other CPU fans!@! CPU fan FAIL.

  • Pros: DO NOT BUY ARCTIC FREEZERER THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE HEATSINKS TAKE DIMM3 AND DIMM1 SO THEY CAN NOT BE USE STAY WITH THE INTEL TEMP STAY AT 89F TO 90F THE ARCTIC WOULD GO FROM 108F,98F 111F AND JUMP TO 124F
  • Cons: I DO NOT RECOMENT IT

not meant for amd cpus

  • Summary: Bought this cooler to go with my new amd fx-8350. I'm getting temps of about 40c on idle and have maxed it out under stress at 61c...this is all with stock settings. The problem is this cooler only mounts with the fan blowing up or down with am3+ amd sockets...

Crud design for AMD

Colt C., Newegg
27 March 2012
  • Summary: From now on if a cooler will not clear my ram I will not buy it. If by some fool mistake I do buy such a cooler, like I did with this one, I will return it and give it the lowest score possible. There is NO excuse for this kinda cruddy design at this point.
  • Pros: It's a 90mm cooler so it should not be as cumbersome as much larger ones.
  • Cons: If you have an AMD socket the stupid thing will only blow air upward or downward depending on how you mount it. After all, we AMD users are second rate consumers so why would we be discriminating enough to notice such a shortcoming? *sarcasm* This has to be one of the dumbest designs I've seen on...

Can't count to two?

Donald B., Newegg
27 October 2011
  • Summary: Never had a problem with AC products before. But this level of attention to detail makes me scratch my head. It's too heavy to RMA. I don't care to deal with the postage. Maybe I will remove the over-applied thermal past and use it as a paper weight. 5 eggs for Newegg. A Goose egg for AC.
  • Pros: It's heavy? As if that matters. Has some shiny parts.
  • Cons: It is quite heavy, but I can't use it. When I opened the package I discovered that only one AMD clip was in the parts bag. Hey AC employees. It needs two clips, not one. Thanks a lot.

Almost RMAed

Steve S., Newegg
13 August 2011
  • Summary: The size of the fins on the heatsink are too large and should be made smaller so that they do not interfere with the memory slot closest to the CPU. I am now faced with the choice of either blowing the hot air on my top-mounted power supply or my graphics card.
  • Pros: - Able to cool a CPU that puts out 130 watts (My CPU only puts out 95 watts so this heatsink is more than I need right now but I wanted the option to get a different CPU in the future.) - Lots of other reviewers liked it (I have yet to see how well it works.)
  • Cons: I was doing a new system build on an ASUS M5A97 AM3+ MOBO. With the new motherboard I started the installation outside of the full size tower. I had ordered 4 G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series memory cards that have their own heatsinks to use all 4 memory slots. Following the motherboard instructions I in...

Didnt work at all

Ron S., Newegg
19 July 2011
  • Summary: My phenom 1100t was 52c at idle . When any load was put on the cpu it shot up in the 60's c before i stopped it. I removed it , put the stock amd heatsink on it. Fired it up, it instantly dropped to mid 30's c idle and wouldnt go past 52c at load.
  • Pros: Looked nice
  • Cons: Did not work at all. Piece of garbage waste of money !! I was robbed !!

Made for Intel boards

Ian H., Newegg
12 April 2011
  • Summary: Stock AVC CPU heatsink/fan that came with my AMD CPU worked just as well. No change in temps what-so-ever. It did, however, raise the temps of my PSU to dangerous levels. After this purchase I will never purchase from AC again due to the (apparent) lack of forethought while designing their products.
  • Pros: Looks like a solid build, comes with pre applied thermal paste. That's about it.
  • Cons: After opening up the box and glancing over the instructions it is made painfully clear that AMD compatibility was a last minute addition that wasn't really thought through. You can A.) mount it so that it pushes all of the hot air onto your graphics card or B.) mount it so that it pushes all of t...
