Summary: If you buy the CD-RW drive, you will more than likely have to tweak the software configuration to avoid buffer overruns. I searched the net for about two hours and found instructions that, once implemented, allowed the drive to function smoothly. Since hen, I have had defect free operation. By the way, though now outdated this drive is very fast. Why pay $100 more to get a drive that can rip just 1.5 minutes quicker?
Pros: Required some customized configuration to avoid buffer overruns
Cons: Required some customized configuration to avoid buffer overruns

Pros: Great, everything seems to be working fine for the 2nd year now! i think im going on to the 2y4m almost the 5th month now. No problems. I just figured out how to make it stop burning at 8x. Be sure to uncheck the "auto-detect cd write speed" it doesnt see
Cons: None, its worked like a charm and has gone through massive numbers of hdd formats and no drivers needed with XP!
