Summary: I am in love with this gadget. Although a little too big to be called a gadget, this thing has been my companion for about a year. I have written over one hundred discs with this thing (I purchase a ton of music online). I do love it. I will definately purchase this again when the time comes (hopefully not too soon). It perfoms great, looks chic, it is a work horse. I really enjoy this thing.
Summary: This DVD burner was fine when it was working... which was for about 8 months after I bought it. After that it suddenly died. This is my 3rd Sony product that has failed on me; I'm not buying any more Sony items.
Summary: I purchased the Sony DRX840U when the SuperDrive on my 5-year-old Powerbook G4 wore out. I typically burn DVDs several times a week using Roxio Toast and Verbatim media. I have had no coasters in the 3+ months I have been using this burner, and every disc plays perfectly in my 8-year-old DVD player. I did a LOT of research prior to purchasing, and it definitely lives up to all of the positive reviews I read. This is a powerful little beast! Expect it to be noisy.
Summary: the service from transbiz and amazon was a fiasco
amazon took no responsibility for the delays that cost me a customer
transbiz could not tell me when I would receive the product only after I cancelled my amex transaction did I get action
thieves and liars
they gave me the lousy item for free after I lost a $24k/yr client
Summary: I have owned this since September 2008. It is one tough hombre. It has survived knockdowns by the cat, beverage spills, and owner stupidity. Takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'. Writes dual-layer disks, +R, -R, in all speeds, just as advertised. It's tougher than any of my internal DVD-RW drives. Can't recommend it highly enough. I'll shut up now.
Summary: Now that I'm using Ashampoo DVD Burning software the item works wonderfully well....very simple to use...just get rid of the NERO software & replace with something that works. Thanks to another review I found out about the option of a different software....
Excerpt: It needs to be plugged into an outlet and into the computers USB port so the cords alone are annoying to carry. If you are keeping it next to your computer than I would say this is perfect for you. My opinion: If you are looking for an external DVD/CD burner this would be the thing to get. For $100 you can’t go wrong. It’s a sony . It’s reliable. It has a good warranty. And as of 5 months, I have 0 problems with it.
