Sony BWU-200S

  • Excerpt: As far as we’re concerned, the Blu-ray burner to beat these days is LG’s GGW-H20L1 (reviewed December 2007). Unfortunately for Sony, its BWU-200S isn’t the drive to do it. We pretty much knew this before we even began testing the drive—after all, the BWU-200S is rated for 4x Blu-ray write speeds compared to the LG’s 6x speed rating. And true to form, LG’s drive trounced Sony’s in every Blu-ray burning scenario.
  • Pros: Decent burn speeds on Sony's new 4x media; handsome faceplate; SATA.
  • Cons: Abysmal burn speeds everywhere else; even with error-check disabled, performance is still pokey.

Burn high-def movies to Blu-ray discs

Good Gear Guide.au

  • Summary: The BWU200S isn't the fastest Blu-ray burner on the market and lacks some of the features found on competitively priced rivals. Nevertheless, it should still satisfy high-def enthusiasts who require an all-in-one burning solution.
  • Pros: Good build quality, bundled Cyberlink software, attractive price, writes to all Blu-ray media (BD-AV, BD-R, BD-RE, BD-ROM)
  • Cons: Slow burning times
