Features

The Sony BWU-500S is a Blu-ray writer that can burn both single-layer and dual-layer Blu-ray disks and is backwards compatible with a variety of other optical disk formats such as DVDs and CDs. The Sony BWU-500S supports 2x BD-RE write speeds, 12x single-layer BD-R write speeds and 8x dual-layer BD media write speeds. It can write CD-RW disks at 24x and CD-R at 48x, while DVD-RW media reaches speeds of 6x, DVD+RW and DVD-R/+R DL at 8x and 12x, respectively; and DVD-R/+R and DVD-RAM at 16x and 12x, respectively. Backed up by the two-year warranty, the device will start selling in October.
