Summary: This is by far the loudest Drive I've ever seen or heard! Though drive was easy to install and appears to work, the fact the it sounds like a thrashing machine even when not in use, makes it unacceptable - no matter how it works! Attempted to test it just by viewing a movie and it only got louder! Sent it back for refund. Thank You. Amazon. What is happening to products these days when one can't even rely on what used to be reputable companies.
Summary: Received the drive install in a new computer build. When burning a DVD data disk the drive would spin and then hang, boot required to restore operation. Replaced with another brand that works with the DVD media and computer.
Summary: I tested this DVD recorder with two DVD and two CD disks. DVD disks were from Sony and CD disks from Fujifilm. All of them had severe problems. For example: PI errors maximum: 15 PI failures maximum: 9 While DVD recorder was able to correct all of the errors, the amount is far exceeding standard. In other words, if you don't test the drive, you might think that it is working properly. However, it is of very poor quality. I have never seen a new drive of such quality.
Summary: Bought this for a friends build. I took the Sony name for granted I guess, because this is the one part I didn't dive very deep into reviews. I can assure you that this is the LOUDEST DVD player I have ever heard. I work with computers for a living as a network administrator, and have owned, and fixed many for friends, this drive still takes the cake for ridiculous amount of noise...
Summary: product arrived naked. meaning just a drive rattling in a brown box. no cables, screws, etc. the black cover was cracked and the metal was peeling. the drive itself rattled ( i am assuming something broke inside). didnt get to use the the drive as i returned it immediately.
Summary: I read the other reviews and decided to take a chance. Big mistake. First of all the drives are incredibly cheap feeling, especially the door. It wiggles around more than any other drive I have seen. I bought 2 that are identical so it is not just one of them. This thing is LOUD. It drowns out every other noise even when not turning at full RPMs. Once the disc spins up to full RPMs, it is like listening to a jet engine take off. Both drives I bought do this.
Summary: I bought this in April and it stopped working June. It's past Amazon's 30 day return policy so apparently I can't do anything about it. I tried moving it to two different systems but it just doesn't get any power at all.
