Pros: Works well, haven't tried the lightscribe feature yet, though.
Cons: Stopped working after about 3 months and couldn't update the firmware. Driver was up to date according to vista. I had to manually delete the registry file and it started working again. It may have a compatability issue with my version of Nero (I'm using 8, but had 6 installed for a bit)?? Workin...
Summary: This gum I'm chewing has lost its flavor but I'm afraid of spitting it out because i don't know what I'll chew next O.o
Pros: The drive itself is great, I don't burn alot or rip a whole lot from dvds or cds so keep that in mind. But I wanted a nice looking drive that could do anything I felt in the mood for and was quiet. I've had drives in the past that sounded as though a low flying jet was passing by. So I'm very hap...
Cons: it cost a tiny bit more then some other drives but on the other hand you don't get software with most other drives. It's not completely silent, my case is loud and I can still notice it whirling up but It may just be the nature of the beast, maybe no disk drive can be completely quiet.
Summary: Overall, this is a good item to get, especially if you have a black case. Runs well, does what Samsung advertises and is in a combo (had a system with CD burner and DVD player, yikes, a lot of wires).
Pros: For the price and for what it does, this is a deal. DVD/CD rom burner, SATA, Lightscribe, etc. So far no issues.
Cons: First, no cables. This should be included. Second is the Nero software. There are easier ones out there to use so why complicate things. So dinged them on these two issues which brings down 1 point.
Summary: I don't know if this is really a Samgsung, or if it's just a re-badged generic drive. Nowhere in Device Manager does it say "Samsung". At first I thought I was shipped the wrong product. I suppose it's as good as any other drive with comparable features. I haven't noticed anything special about it.
Pros: Works. Black. I think maybe it came with some burning software -- haven't tried it yet.
Cons: Would be nice if it said somewhere on the front of the drive WHAT the drive did or what it was compatible with. For example, "light scribe", "DVD+/-R", or something. My drive was even missing some of the "markings" shown in the picture.
