Summary: Just got this today and can't say too much about performance yet, but I can tell you that the enclosed software was the most aggravating version of Nero I've ever dealt with. After three or four aborted attempts (because of 10 or 15 minutes of apparent inactivity) at installing it I had all but given up. But my compulsiveness got the better of me and I decided I would just start the installation again and leave it.
Summary: Aside from the fact that this devise is noiser than it competitors, there is another issue. The software associated with a lasar-burn CD-DVD devise is naturally going to be significantly large. That's not the issue. The issue is that the software associated with this devise, based on NERO, isn't just large, it's aggressively intrusive into the entire OS, and this has some curious side-effects when the OS is Microsoft. Of course, it might just be me.
Summary: Amazon Verified Purchase ( What's this? ) This drive works well if you know which connector you and it has. This drive doesn't have the same pin plug as the, I figure, the old style that I have. It has SATA. (I've never seen any other before) I could get it to work on one computer, but it couldn't be read on the H-P. I would have liked to have gotten the configuration before. That all said, it really works well and is really fast.
