Summary: I purchased this unit as part of a budget refurbishing project for an aging Mac video editing system in a grade school. Along with being fast and capable it is "plug and play" with the Macintosh OS and ProApps.
Summary: The drive seems to work fine, but since I received a SATA interface instead of a PATA/IDE like I ordered, I needed to buy a SATA card to insert in to my last available PCI slot to use it. Drive is relatively quiet, and appears to read and write will.
Summary: Build a LOT of machines for people and needed this unit to be in a distant town when I arrived for a quick install. Not my usual unit but Amazon got it there waiting for me. The only gripe was the screws were missing. I had some so no big 4 me and I suspect that it is unusual because the instructions -in English - mentioned them being there. This unit was recognized by Linux and works perfectly so far - installed at Christmas. Burns DVD's CDA, CDROM no problem.
Nero not fully-featured. Do you have an 80-conductor cable?

Summary: So far I really like the drive. Smooth, quiet operation. I haven't used it for much yet, but I don't plan on having any problems. I'll update this review if anything goes wrong. I'm very detail-oriented when it comes to burning my own audio CDs, so I was rather peeved with the fact that I can't rename tracks before burning an audio CD with the bundled Nero 9 Essentials. I contacted Nero who said that OEM bundles like this are not fully-featured.
