Summary: Bought this less than a year ago. Initially I was impressed, easy install and worked great. Used it to install the operating system, but 3 months later when I needed it the carriage was sticking, struggled to open and close, when it did close the disk vibrated like hell and it was unable to be read.
Summary: Again, it works as a drive should, but if you're concerned about every part being perfect spend more and get a higher end drive.
Pros: Reasonable price, spins up fast, so far has been a consistently working drive.
Cons: Definitely just a generic burner meant to be a cheap constituent to a system. It's rather loud, and you can hear internal parts vibrating. The only thing that makes it Samsung is the logo printed on the front.
Pros: It's a DVD burner and it does it's job. I've only used it probably less than 5 times since I built my rig four months ago, but it seems to be pretty solid. If you're looking for a cheap, decent quality DVD drive just to have one in case you need it, this is the ticket.
