Summary: When I got it, it felt kinda felt cheap and I had a hard time getting it to open. After messing with it for a few minutes it finally opened but I don't know what I did any different to get it to finally open other then continue to push the button a dozen or so times.
Summary: Keep in mind that this entire product category has fallen to a $30 price range. So I do not view this as a bargain basement item. Especially since this is a name brand Samsung item versus a generic enclosure.
Summary: I don't think I'd buy this drive again. In fact, I might try to send it back, but the shipping charges and hassle would cost about as much as the drive is worth! It is okay for occasional use but I was not kidding about the airplane noise!
Pros: Software installed automatically immediately under windows seven and it started working. It also seems to work fine under Mac OS X, again automatically detected.
Cons: At 16x speeds it sounds like an airplane taking off!
Summary: This product is decent. It performs well. I have been able to read and write CDs, and play a DVD. I have not tired burning a DVD yet. The reason why I give this product 3-stars is because when it arrived, the tray would not eject.
Summary: I have a ultra laptop that does not have room for a DVD Drive. This drive does not require DC power. However, it does require two USB ports (1 for electricity and 1 for data). The drive works great but is quite slow.
Summary: first of all, it's bigger than it looks in the photo but my biggest complaint is the cable that comes with it. I wanted to use this with my little Zenbook, which has one usb port on each side.
