Summary: This is the second SE-208 Drive I have ordered ... one back in 2012 and this one around October 2013. Both units are bad and cannot read CDs or DVDs. This 2012 was sitting in the box for a year ... wouldn't work at all. So I ordered a second one (my bad for not testing the 2012 unit when it first came). The second unit does not read ... doesn't matter if it is a factory disc or a disc I've burned. I do computer repair ...
Not happy with it. I had 2 both broke after a few use

Summary: My computer does not have a DVD player. My son bougt this one for me as X-mas gift. I used a few time and broke. I thought I didn't use it with causion. I bought another one jsut like this one. But after maybe10 use, it broke again.. it is a bad design. i will never buy it again.
Summary: When I got it, it felt kinda felt cheap and I had a hard time getting it to open. After messing with it for a few minutes it finally opened but I don't know what I did any different to get it to finally open other then continue to push the button a dozen or so times. Hope it is not a sign of problems to come. I have made DVD's and CD's and it worked well for the past month or so.
Summary: Keep in mind that this entire product category has fallen to a $30 price range. So I do not view this as a bargain basement item. Especially since this is a name brand Samsung item versus a generic enclosure. The enclosure is light weight glossy plastic on top and sturdier textured plastic underneath. Light weight is probably good if you want to carry this around.
Summary: I bought this burner because it had 4 out of 5 stars for over 95 reviews. My Macbook burner has been very off and on lately, so I just wanted to get something that would be reliable. When it arrived today, I opened the box, plugged it in, got excited because a little light came on making think - wow, this is going to work, and then got extremely frustrated when I pressed the button to open and it made some funky noises and then did not open. I pressed it again.
Summary: Does exactly what I needed. Burns efficiently without being too loud. It's sleek and small and all around a good deal for what I paid for it. Way easier to burn a bunch of DVDs than to lose all my stuff on external hard drives.
