The Plextor PX-L890SA is an internal DVD writer that is compatible with a system with Intel Pentium 4 1.3 GHz or equivalent or higher processor, up to 128 MB (512 MB recommended), has a SATA (Serial ATA) and runs Microsoft Windows 7 / XP / Vista or later operating system. It also requires a system with 1 GB free space required for software installation, and up to 10 GB free space required for DVD authoring. Other requirements include an Internet connection for updates LightScribe media required for printing LightScribe labels. The Plextor PX-L890SA is designed with a front panel that has an eject button and LED activity light indicator. The Plextor PX-L890SA measures 5.75 x 1.83 x 6.70 inch / 146 x 41.3 x 170 mm and weighs 1.98 lbs / 0.9 kg.

The PX-L890SA is an internal DVD RW designed with a rigid chassis and multiple dampers to absorb vibrations for optimized recording quality and stability. Supporting up to a maximum of 24X write speed for CD, the Plextor PX-L890SA has specially designed airflow paths which cool the motor and other heat producing components to extend the operational life of the drive. Bundled with PlexUtilities software, which includes an array of test tool, media information, drive information, and drive tuning system, the Plextor PX-L890SA is compatible with media such as DVD+/-R, DVD+/-RW, DVD-RAM, CD-RW and CD-R. The writer also supports LightScribe direct disc labeling which uses the drives laser to make customized labels on any LightScribe compatible blank disc.
