Summary: I purchased this burner primarily for backing up data. The Blu-ray Burner stopped working after 2 months and will no longer recognize Blu-ray disk also Burner will not burn a disk over 22 Gigabytes, After that it fails. Contacted Pioneer support after 2 weeks, No response. Lemons happen . However a good company will try to resolve the issue.
Summary: I've had this drive about a week...so far so good! I bought it to replace a malfunctioning DVD burner in my desktop. The drive came from DIGISTOR/AMAZON very quickly. I run a dual boot UBUNTU/WIN7 machine and I was worried because the drive came with no software or drivers. However, it was immediately recognized and usable in both operating systems, although WIN7 had to load some drivers first.
Summary: Needed to get a disc drive for my home-built HTPC and figured I might as well just get a blue-ray. I'm almost entirely digital so I don't get much use out of it but when I need it it works, so thats really all I can ask for. Its a no frills drive and it worked out of the box with Win7.
Summary: Seems to be a good drive for the money. Have been using mine for several weeks with no trouble. The noise it makes while running is fairly average i'd say, not very quiet or very loud. Reads and burns all dvds, cds, and blu-rays i have put into it. BE AWARE that this drive does not come with any special blu-ray software, you will need a third party media player program to watch blu-rays. This is stated in the description on the web page but it bears repeating.
Summary: Installing the drive was a s fast and easy as changing out a light bulb. With Windows 7, all I had to do was disconnect the two cables, remove two screws and slide the old unit out. After sliding the new unit in and reattaching the screws and cables, I turned the PC on, and it came up fast and easy with zero issues. I tested it by burning backup copies of all my photos, and 5 BD disks later, all was working great.
Summary: This may be more difficult than you think. After the drive was not recognized I had to edit the msAHCI registry setting and change my SATA BIOS settings to AHCI on my Dell Win7 machine. After that it worked great. Thank God for internet forums. Hope it lasts.
