No problems at all !

John O., Newegg
9 February 2012
  • Pros: Works perfectly for me. No problems with included software. It plays Bluray disks perfectly. I don't know what all the fuss is about the software. It works without upgrading or costing anything Xtra. Fine drive ...quiet, no coasters. What more could you want. Bargain.
  • Cons: Not that I have found and have used alot.

Great Drive

Ryan H., Newegg
1 February 2012
  • Summary: I found a sale of 10 BD-RW discs at Walgreens for 5 dollars in a bargin bin. I bought all remaining 10 packs and use it for backup and everything else, since I can rewrite them. I asked why they were so cheap, and he they said they had many people returning them defective...
  • Pros: Fast, reliable, and have burned DL discs many times and have had NO coasters. To the person who complained about the Drive NOT allowing him to play commerical movies unless he played via Analog, this is NOT a drive issue. This is an issue between your video card and monitor. Read up on HDCP. Basi...
  • Cons: NO Con's.

Fast, Almost "quiet", PowerDVD

David M., Newegg
29 January 2012
  • Summary: rip-lock, or riplock, or read-speed limit, whatever name it's given is an utter failure at preventing the backup of legitimately owned discs (if you are a renter/copier you are scum). Which just proves that Hollywood is the leading cause of stupidity in America.
  • Pros: 18.3mbp/s read 17.0mbp/s write You read that correctly; a 9x write speed on Optical Quantum 4x discs (aka Vinpower, aka PHILIP-R04-00), no coasters...yet. That is on the stock 1.56 firmware.
  • Cons: The price for the speed above is a 5 second or so spin-up whirr. My other drive; a LG GGW-H20L, is nearly silent at the same read speed with the latest YL07 firmware writes the above disc at 4x. Please read that this "con" is not a con; just a comparison.

So far so Good

Silvano V., Newegg
20 January 2012
  • Summary: Good so far. Let's see how long it lasts. Always had good luck with Pioneer products though, so it should be OK.
  • Pros: So far so good. No coasters yet using IMGBurn. The included software is OK.
  • Cons: 1.5G/s speed.

great product

James Q., Newegg
8 January 2012
  • Summary: I'll still give the drive 5 eggs though - the complaints pertain to the Blu-Ray standards I'll bet.
  • Pros: Started out with a different brand - it got lost in quality control - probably bypassed the department. Swapped via Newegg for this one and have never looked back. It's quiet and does the job.
  • Cons: Blu-Ray stinks when using a mouse - they do not co-exist. Who dropped the ball on this??? Also Blu-Ray is very slow to load initially - probably spenging too much time on anti-piracy locks etc.
