To be revisited

John S., Newegg
26 February 2015
  • Summary: It'll see very light use from me, these things are really almost an antiquity at this point.
  • Pros: It's quiet. It reads blurays, and burns dvds/cds I've only confirmed that it'll read all of the formats, haven't burned anything nor will I probably for a long, long time. It's the cheapest bluray player, hence my purchase and review
  • Cons: we'll see

josh, Amazon
18 January 2015
  • Summary: I ordered this seeing it as an upgrade to previous optical drives seeing the reviews. 3 months later i am having issues i would have expected if i was using this everyday on a heavy workload, but this thing is as dead can be. It still somewhat reads, but will refuse to playback any kind of video. The audio oddly works. Next time i will order from a different supplier that also packages blu-ray support as well.

working as advertised,

Daniel L., Newegg
12 December 2014
  • Summary: so far so good
  • Pros: worked as advertised, had no issues with it. Bluray playback was great, certainly much better than my older sony pc bluray drive
  • Cons: Not sure of all the issues that other reviewers have mentioned, it kind of made me think twice about ordering it, but have no issues so far, so good

Works just fine, fast and reliable

Jack, a computer geek since 1979, Amazon
23 November 2014
  • Summary: Works just fine, fast and reliable. Keep in mind that there are no cables or screws included--only the drive itself. Also note that Blu-Ray drives (like this one) are typically deeper than most DVD drives.

Almost everything done right

Daniel D., Newegg
23 November 2014
  • Summary: I bought this drive (admittedly from another site, shame on me) in August 2013. I've used it extensively since then and have been very happy with it.
  • Pros: I've been using one of these drives for over a year now, and I have yet to have any issues playing any DVD or Blu-Ray discs or ripping my collection to my media server. On the rare occasion that I have need to burn a CD-R or DVD-R. it has performed without issue. Regardless of the task, the noise level from the drive is also reasonable.
  • Cons: The one issue I have with this drive is that isn't a good choice for ripping standard audio CDs. It does not properly report C2 errors, and the result is that software like EAC is unable to have the drive reread and possibly correct incorrect data that results in audio glitches.

Very Disappointing

CHRIS M., Newegg
19 October 2014
  • Summary: Very unfortunate that I cannot send this back since I've had it longer than 30 days. I've also tried using my old drive and it works fine. I was able to play my cd's and dvd's with it. I also used a separate computer that also worked. Tried to look for a solution on the Internet and couldn't find anything.
  • Pros: It takes the disc and you can look at the files.
  • Cons: Autoplay isn't working. I can't play any of my movies or play any of my cd's. I got this with the intent so that I could play blu-ray videos as well but now I can't even play regular dvd files or cd files.
