Summary: I bought the identical item last year, vendor was F & H Group, Inc. and the item was fine. For this one, seller is etoptrade, but this Panasonic UJ240 is used, abused, defective and region 2 (EU). The chassis has a lot of wear & scratches on it, probably cannibalized from an old laptop. Where I come from, selling used stuff as new is fraud.
Summary: I purchased this drive to use in a new computer build because it was the lowest priced slim Blu-ray burner out there, but it was a big disappointment. It couldn't even read my TDK DVD-RW discs that my old DVD burner and DVD-ROM drives could. Panasonic doesn't seem to release firmware updates on a regular basis either which is unfortunate. I returned it and purchased a Pioneer drive that reads and writes every type and brand of disc I throw at it.
Drive is fine, but NO BEZEL despite the image/description

Summary: I ordered and received the drive just fine -- the usual Amazon ordering experience was great. When I received the drive it didn't have a bezel. At first I thought maybe I messed up and ordered the wrong drive but the very first bullet point states, in part, "[...] General Features: Black bezel." After contacting the seller, who confirmed the drives they sell do not come with a bezel, I'm returning the drive for one that matches the photo and description...
The drive I received when ordering this part is counterfeit. Panasonic confirmed from Japan.

Summary: When I was having issues setting up this drive I contacted Panasonic support, and provided them a picture of the drive. In BIOS and OS, the drive showed up as a UJ260, whereas the label was listing it as a UJ-240. On top of this, the support agent contacted Panasonic Japan directly to see if they could assist, and they came back with several point about the label that confirms this as a counterfeit part.
Spent 3 hours trying to make it recognize BD-RE DL. No use. Seems to be a firmware issue.

Summary: As a technician with more that 10 years of experience behind can absolutely assure you - this rom is useless! Not so sure if that was just my luck or may be the issue with firmware 1.0 in general but i couldn't get it to recognize Dual Layer Blu-rays. After reading other people's review on this rom, who claim to have the same issue tend to believe that, it wont work depending on which firmware version it has. 1.2 and more frequent might work.
Summary: This product worked great for a month. I was able to burn blurays and play bluray commercial movies. After a month or so this bluray drive stopped being able to play Blu Ray commercial movies, even the ones that played a month ago. Although I typically like the brand and expected a quality product, I cannot recommend what I received. If anyone knows where I can find firmware for this model, please let me know.
Summary: Worked once, and then stopped writing any sort of discs altogether. Some "power calibration error" pops up. No fix anywhere on the internet to be found. can't believe i paid 90 bucks for this. still reads discs though, but if that was all i ever wanted, i would've bought a cheaper drive.
Panasonic UJ240 6x Blu-ray Burner BD-RE/8x DVD±RW DL SATA Drive (Black)

Summary: Bought this to replace my no longer working ASUS G73 DVD drive. It is working as it is supposed to so far, have not used the Blu-Ray burner yet as I need to get the software to do so. Just a note on this drive for us ASUS G series laptop owners, the drive mounts ok but the faceplate is recessed and not flush with the side of the laptop as with the original drive.
Summary: Das Gerät spielt keine kopiergeschützten Filme von DVD ab und versteht sich auch nicht mit Any DVD. Also weder kann man die Filme ansehen, noch auf die Festplatte kopieren oder rippen. Egal, welches Programm man benutzt. Für mich ist es damit nur von sehr eingeschränkten Nutzen.
Summary: Das Positive zuerst: Die Lieferung erfolgte pfeilschnell, Verpackung perfekt.
