Cons: Size - it's basically an internal burner mounted in a black case. A little noisy.
Summary: You can't beat the price for this external drive and now more with the rebate. It has been also very silent and performs every time. I can now burn a dvd in 15 mins with this unit. The problem is not the drive but with the software that comes with it.
Pros: Plug and play connection is easy w/ xp, fast burner, solid construction
Cons: nero software is complicated and blocks copyrighted dvds
Summary: Internal verses external? Maybe because more care is given to buffering given the nature of USB.
Pros: Great deal. I was looking for a RELIABLE burn and I've found it. For some reason the external drive performs better than internal--not in terms of speed, but in ter drives in terms of RELIABILITY.
Summary: Consider the price, why would you spend more? Lite-On has always been my first choice over other brands anyways. I am a casual DVD burner though.. maybe 3 a week at most. Usually data backups so can't speak for the type that burns tons of movies.
