Lasted 4 years with light use

Anonymous, Newegg
  • Summary: Reading the reviews it looks like about 25% of these devices stop working within a year. So, maybe I should count myself lucky.
  • Pros: Lasted 4 years
  • Cons: Stopped working after reading perhaps 400 DVDs, 50 Blu-rays and writing perhaps 25 DVDs and 5 Blu-rays. I took it apart and noted a transistor that had exploded and left a scorched mark on the inside of the drive's case.

  • Pros: works as a cd/dvd player writer.
  • Cons: lightscribe is unuseable in any form. apparently lightscribe is a fallacy. like to have known that before I gave newegg the extra money for thermal faced cds.

Got it for cheap, works perfectly

Richard S., Newegg

  • Pros: Was looking for a Blu-ray player/burner for the longest time and decided to give this one a try and I am glad I did. I have no problems with it and it works perfectly.
  • Cons: Wish the speed was a bit faster but I won't complain for the price.

No complaints

Kenneth J., Newegg

  • Pros: I haven't really used the burner much, except to burn a few CD / DVD's and install some software, and I've had zero problems for over a year. Nothing to complain about, works flawlessly so far.
  • Cons: None yet

Good, but failed a bit too early

Robert N., Newegg
24 March 2013
  • Summary: I'll put this drive on the shelf since the DVD/CD functions seem to work fine, but am very disappointed that I paid extra for a feature that doesn't work.
  • Pros: Good drive while it works.
  • Cons: Won't read Blu-rays after eight months, DVD functions work fine. Since the price premium is for the Blu-ray ability I feel like I've been ripped off. As most of my collection is DVDs I haven't used the Blu-ray functionality. In total I've read less than 10 Blu-ray disk on this drive.

Worked great for a week...

Robert B., Newegg
17 February 2013
  • Summary: Maybe I got a bad drive. It happens. But do not buy this because it has software with it. It is not worth it, in my opinion.
  • Pros: Did what it was supposed to do for a week.
  • Cons: Went to rip an audio CD, and I heard loud grinding. The CD itself was fine, so I surmise the gears in the drive itself were mashing together. Would make grinding noise, even when it spun up at system boot with no disc or when your closed the drive empty and it spun. Sent back for RMA (still in pr...

Drive works

Henry S., Newegg
5 February 2013
  • Summary: My original review on 01-26-12 gave the drive a 1. I figured out the problem wasn't the drive but my case ventilation. First drive I got would randomly fail when burning a disk. Great help from LiteOn troubleshooting the problem, but couldn't come up with why the failures.
  • Pros: Drive works as advertised Great customer service
  • Cons: May run warm in some computer cases

  • Pros: Easy to install, good software suite, plug n' play in Win7, error free so far when burning.
  • Cons: Could have faster write times but for the priced paid, very good performance. Cyberlink Suite could be better, specially to burn media and create DVD menus and such.
