Finally died

Jonathan B., Newegg
3 April 2015
  • Pros: It did what it was supposed to do for a while, then just stopped reading any media. I took it apart, cleaned everything, put it back together, and it worked fine for another 3 - 4 months. Now, we're back to not reading any media again.
  • Cons: Only worked for a year or two.

Absolute Junk

Teddy C., Newegg
7 December 2014
  • Summary: I have other DVD-RW (SATA) drive that is about 7 years old and still working just fine with moderate workload.
  • Pros: - Price point was about right at the time of purchase. - Moderate spec at the time of purchase
  • Cons: - Failed within 3 years of absolute light usage. Not even burned bluray disc once. Not even used once as bluray reader. All I did was simply burned probably less than 35 audio CDs in total within past 3 years. - It is no longer recognized by motherboard BIOS. I swapped drive with old DVD-RW, and ...

  • Cons: A dangerous fire hazard - I advise you to stay away from Lite On products

Internal Drive

Carl S., Newegg
7 June 2014
  • Summary: I got this to put into an external enclosure and it is still working great.
  • Pros: Near flawless drive. I say near flawless only because I haven't tried all types of media. It does read all of the current ones on the market. It really depends on a lot of factors. Computer's CPU speed, Memory size, updated drivers. I used DVD Fab latest version and everything I fed into the driv...
  • Cons: If you have this in a dusty environment I'd advise you to get a disc cleaner and do this once or twice a month. If you get errors try cleaning it first.

Failed after 3 years

Paul N., Newegg
4 December 2013
  • Pros: When it worked it was fine.
  • Cons: Had in HTPC; not used often. Started getting pixelation with Blu-Rays and read errors with CDs about a 6 months ago; kept getting progressively worse; latest firmware installed. Lite-On was no help. Installed a different brand of BD R/W and all was well. Threw it out the LiteOn with my confidence...

Piece of junk

Roberto R., Newegg
16 November 2013
  • Summary: Is no longer available so at least they stopped selling this piece of junk, this was the last Lite-on drive I'll ever buy.
  • Pros: Black color
  • Cons: It lasted almost a year and was barely used, burned less than 20 Blu-ray discs with it, now it won't burn or read anything, no cd's, dvd's or blu-rays, the computer can detect it but that's it. I bought this drive on 10/30/2012 and almost a year to the date is dead, the warranty is one year so th...
