Kinda rubbish

Li T., Newegg
17 July 2011
  • Summary: I will contact newegg for an RMA. I'd still recommend this one as the other slim drives in the price range seem equally problematic but cost more. :p
  • Pros: Cheap Functional
  • Cons: As other have said, eject button does not work

Works Great

Andrew B., Newegg
14 July 2011
  • Summary: It's cheap, works great, and does what it's supposed to do. Perhaps people with the eject issues are using too long a screw (Not the guy that can Software Eject); the side slots impinge on the drive rails if too long. (Try non-blind holes Lite-On)
  • Pros: Works great as a DVD-Multi drive in my Home Server; needed a slim drive to fit the NORCO case; never mind that I have about 30 CD/DVD-RW drives laying around in full form factor....
  • Cons: Finding screws to mount a slim-drive stinks? I dunno...

Upgrade- Complete

Nathan L., Newegg
26 June 2011
  • Pros: It works just fine. Standard LiteOn design and template, meant to work and does just that. Burning capability is fine. Not overly loud and hassle-free.
  • Cons: None. Works like a charm.

Perry B., Newegg
18 April 2011
  • Summary: Two thumbs down for two units that won't eject using the button.
  • Pros: Was the price. . . but there is a Samsung that is cheaper.
  • Cons: 2 drives . . . neither Eject button works

Try something else

Anonymous, Newegg
12 April 2011
  • Summary: I didn't buy the cheaper $25 DVD drive due to review problems, so what did I get? Problems. Should I have bought the $50+ Sony drive? Fortunately, the client doesn't mind using step #2 above and I have no more time for exchanges and that potential mess.
  • Pros: It's a DVD drive. Supposed to play CD's too. It seems to read and play a DVD okay, if you can get the DVD in. Otherwise read the Cons.
  • Cons: The open door button on its face doesn't work. With computer powered ON, no amount of pressing, holding or plain jiggling will get the DVD drive door to open. The only way to get the DVD drive door to open is: 1. Use a straightened paper clip inserted in the manual eject hole. OR 2. In My Compute...

They get the job done

Charles L., Newegg
15 November 2010
  • Summary: Wouldn't buy this drive for heavy use since it does seem a little on the flimsy side. I only bought it so that I could install the OS and some software.
  • Pros: -Fit into my Silverstone Mini-ITX case perfectly -Burns and Reads disks with no problems at all -No stupid software needed to use it, just Plug n' Play -Does exactly what I need it to do -Bought 2 of them and they both still work great after 6 months of everyday use!
  • Cons: -Did not come with screws (and the ones it uses are tiny) -Does seem a little bit on the flimsy side, so don't be too hard on it if you want it to last you a while. -Does not use regular SATA port so you might need an adapter (though this isn't really a "con" in my case, just a heads up for other...

havn't got it connected yet

William T., Newegg
12 November 2010
  • Pros: Who knows
  • Cons: Would of been nice if the description told you that its isn't a standard SATA power connector. I don't even know the name of the adapter that I am looking for. Micro SATA? Mini SATA? who knows, gotta do some research.

Junk

Jeff G., Newegg
30 October 2010
  • Summary: FIX IT!!!
  • Pros: First drive, I had to return to newegg for replacement. The eject button wouldnt work. Newegg MESSED up and didnt send me a replacement drive. SO i had to order another one. They refunded me the money instead of sending the drive ( which was clearly stated on the rma ). There error. SO i bought a...
  • Cons: Dosnt work. 2nd drive now with eject issue. Read feedback from other, this is not an issue that is happening to just one person. The drives have major issues and Lite-on and newegg better fix this quick!
