Summary: Using this drive in a MacPro (2010) on OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. I've only burned a handful of Blu-Rays but they work OK. Burned a ton of DVD's and they are fine as well (and 2 CD's). Ripped a ton of Blu-rays and this drive is fast for that. Would recommend, it's a good drive for OSX.
Summary: The first thing i did was go online and hit LG up to get a new drive! Now the good part is they had no problem sending me a new drive...THE BAD is you better be ok going without a drive more then 2 WEEKS! That's not ok im my book. They admitd they gave me a bad drive but want to get the bad drive first B4 SENDING ANYTHING OUT!!!!!!! Now you tell me who would be ok with olny having this drive a short ammount of time and then being without it 4 2 week's.
Pros: It work's well with DVD's and that's it! OH it look's nice. I gave this 2 Eg's to be nice as well.
Cons: Well i run a small computer shop and got this drive with ASI a re-seller. got it thought it worked fine.I got the drive back in OCT and never used the Blu-Ray anything til just now. 1-15-15. I went to rip a BD and play one the first time and it DID NOT WORK!!! I have 2 of thes'e drive's. The other one work's fine Riping playing excrta. The drive that is not working will do anything you want with JUST DVD's and CD's all day every day. But nothing with DVD-DL or Blu-Ray!
Summary: Returning for a refund was a relatively painless process, so no complaints there. This drive may have been a rare dud, but it was enough to convince me to purchase a Pioneer 16x Bluray drive instead another LG. My advise if you decide to buy this would be to test the drive very thoroughly.
Pros: Drive was able to read CDs and Blurays OK...
The quality of this 16X model is as good as the 14X.

Summary: This is the *third* Blu-Ray burner by LG that I have bought. The first two were the 14X model. All three are in use. Had a very very old CD "explode" inside one of the 14X drives (it was visibly cracked and I shouldn't have put it into that "fast" drive). That drive no longer can *write* a Blu-ray disc, but it can read Blu-ray and read and *write* DVDs ... still. I think these LG drives are just plain solid!
