Pros: Great Blu-Ray playback once aftermarket software is installed.
Cons: I didn't have good luck with Daum Pot Player or VLC for Blu-Ray playback, and I needed to get Cyberlink PowerDVD to unleash the full potential of this drive. I wish Microsoft included Blu Ray support in Windows 7.
Summary: Yep, I was one of the ignorant ones who bought this thinking that I could watch Blu-Ray media. lol. This is the first Blu-Ray device I've ever owned. I just assumed that VLC or WMP would play the movies, with at most some driver downloads, but nope, Sony (or whoever owns the patents) is greedy. To this day I've not once used this for its Blu-Ray capabilities. I just don't feel like I should pay $50 to $100 for worthless software just to watch a movie.
Pros: Reads data from discs. Looks good. Blue LED matches my other system LEDs.
Pros: Does the trick.. Plays Blueray with no issues (using AnyDVD HD).
Cons: No software included. I knew this going in. Computer power it makes a strange noise for a second. Can be loud reading DVDs at times. I never hear it as I'm sitting away from it (HTPC). Been ripping my DVD collection to MKV files and it copys in about 10min.
Summary: The Nero software that comes with the item is out of date and when you go to "update" it, they try to charge you $49 bucks. Do not buy the "bundle" as it is a complete rip off. The actual LG drive is a solid build quality and feels like it is made to last, fast to read and write but I would recommend only buying the drive, not the software and cheap cables.
