CD-ROM

Shane B., Newegg
20 May 2015
  • Summary: Hate windows 8.1 for getting to the CD-ROM Drive to run anything in it if it doesn't auto run.
  • Pros: It is a lot faster than my one I used in my first build and not nearly as loud. No problems with it at all besides the little noise when running.
  • Cons: Even though it is not as loud as the one I had on my first build when it is running you can still hear it.

  • Summary: The UH12NS29 is a great CD/DVD player. It will not play BluRay movies with the Super Multi Blue Install Disk CyberLink products installed. With a BluRay movie in the tray, right off the bat the CyberLink PowerDVD requests you to update. When the update is complete.
  • Pros: lacking performance

Great Product

Christopher M., Newegg
11 February 2015
  • Summary: I believe I waited around 3 days for my card to get approved by Action Packaged but Newegg forewarned about this issue so I was prepared for the wait. You also have a personal order manager that will keep tabs with you on your order and follow up to see if the product arrived in good condition as...
  • Pros: Easy install. Literally plug into port and play as long as you wired everything correctly. Arrived on time. Arrived in good packaging with lots of buffering. Personal Order Manager that will keep in contact with you and provide assistance where necessary.
  • Cons: After ordering took about 3 days for my card to get approved by external company.

This is a blind drive.

Joshua R., Newegg
8 January 2015
  • Summary: Might as well be a cup holder.
  • Pros: It opens, closes and can be seen by my computer.
  • Cons: This can't see any discs that I put in it.

Overpriced & hobbibly packaged

Karen J., Newegg
9 December 2014
  • Pros: It is an LG drive
  • Cons: I have never seen such horrible packaging for an optical drive. The packing slip claims that the drive is "new" and yet it is packaged like a refurb or used drive. It is also overpriced for a Blu-ray reading drive, especially when you can buy a BR writer for much less. The worst part of this real...

Horrible

Colin F., Newegg
8 November 2014
  • Pros: Worked for a while
  • Cons: Once you pay for this you have to shell out a lot more just for the programs to play blu ray disks and those programs may not even work. It also failed just over a year.

Gets the job done (2 Years)

Becky A., Newegg
25 October 2014
  • Pros: The drive was installed and rarely used, but when used, generally worked just fine. Easy installation, etc.
  • Cons: It sometimes had issues with stopping midway through a burning of a CD. However, I think I can pin that on the actual files being burned. After putting them through a format converter, the files would burn just fine.

Good

Adam r., Newegg
16 October 2014
  • Summary: Have it in my PC/HTPC connected to sata 3 (6gbs) port. Video card is a 750 Video/sound out via HDMI to yamaha receiver, and then to TV. Cyberlink PowerDvd Pro (trial version)
  • Pros: It works. I didnt need to do anything to get it to work. Win7 64 picked it up instantly. Despite the con, I am content with using this (for a while).
  • Cons: The 3 eggs is a generous rating. Everything works but in the middle of playing a movie (with cyberlink powerdvdpro) the movie will stutter and pause and the drive will start to spin up. Im guessing it falls into a standyby mode and then needs to catch up with the player. A bummer. This was quite ...

Worst case scenario....

Terry M., Newegg
14 September 2014
  • Summary: I always trusted LG to make good products but this one was a dude from the beginning.... I wish I would have RMA's it from the start but now it is way past too late and I am stuck with a some thing just better than a paperweight....
  • Pros: It's quiet, fast read times when it works
  • Cons: It consistently will start seeking for no reason (with no disc in) when you boot up the PC and will not stop until you pull the power from the drive itself, shutting down the machine will not stop it (will start again when you power back up) After updating to the newest firmware, it doesn't even ...

Junk

William B., Newegg
2 June 2014
  • Summary: Time to look for a more reliable drive.
  • Pros: Looks Good. It worked for only 3 to 4 months.
  • Cons: Worked for only a short while. Inserting a DVD it my start-up or it may not. More often NOT. If you could get the DVD spinning, it may abort the read in the middle of the DVD. This happens on all non BD DVDs.
