Summary: I use this with my eeePC 1000h, since it didn't have an optical drive built in.
Pros: Burner is as small as you could expect and fits well in a pouch in my laptop bag. Using USB for both data and power is a good solution when on the road, provided you have enough free USB ports. Burns as quickly as an internal burner on a minitower. Looks pretty sleek to boot.
Cons: Can get a little bit noisy when running at full speed, but seems to be a bit quieter than a lot of full size models that I've come across.
Summary: I have used this primarily (and heavily) for playing DVDs and audio CDs. I didn't wanna use slot loading drive of my MacBook too much for such heavy duty stuff - as they come with an expiration date.
Pros: Sleek and sturdy Looks stunning on desk with my laptop computer Doesn't make too much noise Doesn't require external power supply Put it on a USB hub with other devices like usb keyboard, external hard drive, etc.
Summary: I don't think other thoughts, far too much work
Pros: Both beautifully matched and pefectly performing in my little baby ASUS, just plug and play. No AC external power brick/source used with this one, but you had better make sure that you have two USB plugs open on your system.
