Pros: has worked fine with no problems since I bought on 1/23/09. have only used with my Acer Netbook (Windows XP) that I bought the same day since a netbook doesn't have a DVD drive. I haven't tried it on my two HP computers (1 desktop 1.5 yrs old and 1 laptop 3 months old) since they have DVD drive/b...
Cons: misplaced the power cord :-), so is only powered up when plugged into USB jack/computer.
Pros: I've burned maybe over 100 DVD's with no problem. Since that's the reason I bought it, I've been pleased. Pretty quiet and very little vibration. I use it with a Macbook and it's plug and play right out of the box. Never installed the software. Didn't want all that extra junk.
Cons: Really none so far. Well, actually I wanted to buy one for our son for Christmas but it's out of stock. Bummer
Summary: Doesn't come with any Mac software (Windows only), but it doesn't need any for the drive to be recognized. I'm using it with Roxio Toast, and so far no concerns...
Pros: Slim, lightweight and works as it should so far. Quiet and as vibration free as a burner of this type could be. Fits Perfect on top of my Mac Mini, and great to carry along with a MacBook. Cables are good quality.
Cons: Because it's lightweight it tends to move when closing the disc tray... But no big deal. It would have been nice if it came with an A/C adaptor (just to have all bases covered), but it seems to run fine off of just one USB port, and I haven't had to use the 2nd (supplied) USB power cable.
Pros: Just recieved the drie and first I have to say that newegg shipped it out very quickly. the drive itself work flawlessly. Bought this to replace a HP ultra slim drive in an enclosure and that drive consgtantly had issues (disk hitting the sides, wouldn't mount properly, etc.) unpacked the box, pl...
Summary: Works great. I only had to connect one of the USB cables to power it. Its nice to know that there is a second power source if the computer can not power the drive. I have not tried writing DVD's yet so I can not comment on that
Summary: very handy for my daughter's asus eeepc 1005ha. the netbook have enough current to run this external dvd drive without plugging the extra power cable. installed windows 7 ultimate on the netbook using this drive without any problem. like the color and the overall design, very modern.
Pros: portable, sleek design and works with just the usb cable.
Pros: Purchased to use on lab machines, loading software, OS, flashing BIOS, and occasionally burning an image. The best news - it works well for all of these tasks, including the booting. This drive consistently boots on various platforms.
Cons: Occasionally the usb cable slips out of the back of the unit. The usb power cable is very rarely used, and something I have to search for when I need it (this cable is only used when your USB bus doesn't have enough power).
Summary: My 1st gen MacBook pro is very picky. I already tried two of the external DVD-RW drives for PC, but one just didn't work, and the other one gave me 'over-current' error on my Mac. Both work fine with other PC laptop/netbooks though.
Pros: It works with my 1st gen MacBook Pro only with USB cable. The extra 5V USB power cable is not needed.
