Summary: I have two of these drives, installed in separate systems. They are both solid and work when I need them to. It is not quiet, but at this price you can't expect it to be. Also, it does not include screws or cables so if you are new to building systems and don't have piles of these supplies already, make sure you buy them as well.
Summary: Worked great for the few days it lasted. I was trying to hotswap it, and some contacts touched that shouldnt have, and now the drive doest open or spin up. I'm sure this would happen to any normal drive. If not, now you know.
Summary: PROS: Very quiet, no read/write errors (Ubuntu 12.04 LTS), no install problems CONS: Appearance is not as sleek as I like, but it's really not bad, especially for the price This DVD/CD drive is very quiet. Compared to my old Lightscribe enabled DVD/CD drive which started spinning up loudly during boot and while reading and writing. Drive reads and writes wih no errors using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and Brasero. Overall it's a great drive at a great price.
Summary: I gave this product a 4 out of 5 star rating because it's so fast reading and burning. I would give it 5 stars but I didn't have it long enough to see how it performs in the long run. I recommend this product for buyers looking for an exceptional internal DVD burner for a great price.
Summary: I've owned a lot of optical drives and burners over the years, and this is my favorite so far. It's amazingly small, and it's relatively quiet, even when copying large files off of it at full speed. Burns have been quick and 100% reliable so far.
Summary: I put this into the new computer I built. When I got to the OS installation portion, the install would fail. If I restarted the computer, sometimes the device would go unrecognized at boot. Other times the drive would not recognize the OS on the disc. It was a defective drive. I sent it back. I won't be getting another one of these. I will be going with an ASUS drive. I hope that experience works out better for me.
