Summary: This year, for unknown reason(s), the tray began to work as it was supposed to work and since the other DVD(an ASUS that is even worse than this LG) absolutely will not auto-open the tray I was forced into trying the LG again.
Pros: Purchased the GH22NS30 on 2/21/2009 and it still works as a reader, albeit with great selectivity.
Cons: Where do I start? The GH22NS30 has had just about every problem that has ever plagued the 21st century floppy drive, i.e., the DVD reader/burner. Would not open, would not write, would not read, noisy, and picky beyond belief. I have a stack of coasters soooo high ... :(. They seem to be good for...
Summary: During the first few uses (less than 5, honestly...), it read DVDs and CDs. Eventually, it stopped functioning and I had to scavenge an old IDE DVD/CDROM drive from our older computer. Don't think the burn function ever worked, either.
Pros: - Easy installation
Cons: - Never worked (updating drivers did not help)
Pros: Does everything it is intended to do without fault. I don't have many things to say about a dvd burner as long as it's working properly, so based on that I'd say that this has been a great investment.
Cons: Can potentially get noisy at maximum operation, but then again, what burner in this price range doesn't?
