Be needin' a burner? Dis one wont give you no trouble...

ROBERT P., Newegg
24 August 2007
  • Summary: Newegg puts such priority on "speedy delivery" that I would not be suprised to find Mr. McFeely is running their shipping department...
  • Pros: This was an inexpensive replacement for a burner gone bad. A simple swap of the old with the new and it was good to go. Burns faster and runs quieter than the previous drive as well. Cool!
  • Cons: A CB-EQ knob would have been nice for whenever Blue Oyster Cult CDs are played and the mix requires "more cowbell".

Jack W., Newegg
27 July 2007
  • Summary: Works just fine. I was a little slow to buy an LG, but I've heard the quality has improved alot since LG products first came out. It's quiet & fast. Easy install.
  • Pros: Good price, respectable brand.
  • Cons: none so far.

FAST x2

BRADLEY M., Newegg
25 July 2007
  • Summary: I ordered 2 of these puppies to do simultaneous burns. I had 2 other different brands that could not burn max speed simultaneously. Hooked these up on same IDE and first burn was slow. They were fighting for buffer. Put them on separate IDE's and WHAMMO! Lightening fast simultaneous burns.
  • Pros: Low cost. Nero Express.
  • Cons: None yet.

Great drive, and to modster

Anonymous, Newegg
24 June 2007
  • Summary: To modster, there is a reason it won't read Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, which I had the exact same problem with. Dark Crusade is a DVD ROM game, uhhh this is a CD ROM drive, not a combo drive, read the front of Dark Crusade next time.
  • Pros: Has recognized everything I've thrown at it, burned several discs flawlessly, quiet, not much more you can ask for.
  • Cons: None

User Review

Anonymous, Newegg
13 June 2007
  • Summary: The drive I got may be defective although I'm still playing with it. Drive makes a strange clicking sound (barely noticable) while spinning up a disc and sometimes makes a hissing sound.
  • Pros: Relatively fast burn though I used 16X media since thats all I could find. Not sure what the benefit is on faster burners if the faster media isn't available..
  • Cons: OEM = No Software included, but that's alright because I have the Roxio 9 Suite. LG still uses IDE -- Get with the program and start making SATA drives! No Lightscribe!
