Summary: I LOVE THIS DEVICE!!! For DVDs, Blu-Ray, it's awesome!!! Burn speeds mean little to me. I'm also about being in the Moment and not in a hurry to do anything. If you want to concert your Audiobooks or Music CDs with this...I don't suggest it. It supports C2 error handling and works with Easy CD-DA Extractor nicely, but not the most reliable rips. Get a Sony Mult-Recorder for that. PowerDVD 9 is the player Software that comes with it.
Summary: Does everything as it describes. It has some cheap plastic in the back that kinda bothered me but little to say it not's worth buying. If you need it or simply considering replacing a unit because looks consider this. My PS3 died and so did the ability to read blu-ray, with this unit and with the cost of blu-ray players that don't record it's a winner all the way around.
Summary: I want to say that this Sata Blu-ray Writer is the Coolest writer that I have ever used. It is backwards compatible with the Software package included. I use it for Quick Back-ups of really important data! I got to try it the other day with a non-supported extension and the software automatically went to a site to find a download codec to install so that the burner worked with it also! I have a 20" widescreen HD monitor and use it to watch my blu-ray movies on too!
Summary: The drive plays blu-ray discs at a fast pace. I was able to watch blu-ray dvds smoothly without no problems. The software that came with is was able to allow me to play blu-ray dvds without having to purchase extra software. A very good choice!
Better than an inexpensive Sony, with no software...Software is the key!

Summary: I paid $90.something for a Sony BD writer (no software), no use as is, ordering Nero v10, another $80....to try to make it usefull....this worked right after the drivers/software (PowerDVD v9) were installed (after instaling the hardware), $80!.... :) ...I like it & and have now ordered another for another 'smartbox'...
Summary: The drive functions as you'd expect it to (reads all ROM, blank media and written discs). No problems reading discs made from it on my other devices (Sony blu-ray player & PS3). The provided software is very usable. I made my purchase based on the other reviewers and am satisfied with it.
Summary: I installed my new LG BD writer in a system that I was building from scratch. Very easy to install, looks good. I had no problem with driver installation; I let Win 7 take care of that. I did install the outdated Cyberlink 9 software. I've used their software before. This is newer, but really doesn't work well. It's hard to control movement through the disc. If I try to jump a track forward, the software jumps into high speed play mode for no reason.
